This tour was one of the highlights of our trip. Our family of 6 (4 tweens/teens) was kept entertained and well fed. We learned interesting history around Barcelona, got to try some incredible food and had a great time. Anna did an excellent job of adapting our kids interests and needs. She added great little personal touches like finding out my wife loves to read and recommending a book that takes place in the area we were exploring and taking us to a local book store to get a copy. The place we went for tapas was incredible but wasn't the only great food on the tour. We hit multiple great locations where we could try food if we wanted. If you really want to learn about the local food and culture this is an excellent experience, well worth the time and cost!

My name is Anna, and I was born and raised in Barcelona. I work as an officially licensed tour guide, primarily in English, but also in French, Spanish, and Catalan, my mother language. I hold a university degree in Tourism from the University of Barcelona and have lived in the UK, France, and Germany. I live in Barcelona with my husband and our three daughters, aged 20, 17, and 15 in the quiet district of Sant Gervasi, in Barcelona. I previously worked at the official Spanish Tourism Office in Frankfurt am Main (Germany), where I was responsible for promoting Catalan tourism. I organized trips for travel agents and German journalists to various tourist destinations in Catalonia, such as the Costa Brava, the Pyrenees, and Barcelona. I also worked on the organization of an important cultural event that took place in Barcelona in 2004, the Universal Forum of Cultures. It hosted more than 3 million people during its 141-day duration. In 2014, I decided to combine my knowledge and passion for art, culture, and the city of Barcelona with my love for interacting with people by becoming a local guide. Being a tour guide is an enjoyable challenge; I continuously participate in programs to deepen my knowledge of history, art, and culture, staying updated on everything happening in the city, including cultural events, exhibitions, and the latest bars, restaurants, and concerts. I offer a selection of medium-length tours (4–5 hours) and shorter visits (1.5–2 hours), which you can combine as you wish during your stay in Barcelona. This gives you the flexibility to plan your days around your interests and make the most of the time you have available. Since every person or group has unique interests, I customize my tours and explanations accordingly. Only licensed guides are allowed to give explanations inside museums and monuments, and we can skip the museum entrance lines. Our tour in Barcelona with Anna was special and exactly what we needed at the end of a long trip. Originally planned as a tapas tour, we asked for something a bit different—and Anna went above and beyond to create a personalized tour just for us. With young adults in our group, she took us shopping in El Born, guiding us to unique Spanish boutiques and stores featuring items made right in Barcelona. She took the time to ask what we were hoping to find and tailored the stops perfectly. Along the way, we enjoyed empanadas, local pastries, and even took a relaxing break for cocktails in a quiet, non-touristy plaza. Anna was warm, engaging, and made everyone feel included. None of this was part of the original itinerary, but she adapted everything to suit our group’s mood and interests. It felt more like spending the day with a knowledgeable local friend than being on a formal tour.
On this tour we experienced tapas, visited a public market, the Gothic Quarter and Olde City. Anna's enthusiasm to share this experience with our group of 8 was awesome. I highly recommend this experience.
Anna is an absolutely great guide. After we visited the Mercado next to our hotel, we walked around the El Born district small back streets visiting small shops. Our tapas lunch was at a small local establishment with a server that had a great sense of humor and humor. Anna helped us select tapas that were Catalonian. After great tapas we went to a wine shop with over 8000 bottles from which to choose. Anna helped us select Catalonian regional wines. Anna’s tour style is like walking with a friend chatting.
Fortunately for us, we had scheduled 2 half day tours with Ana and seeing her the second day was like greeting a very good and old friend. If you want a terrific tour of the St Josef La Boqueria and the Gothic Quarter, Ana does a wonderful overview of the area. As we speak no Spanish, having Ana with us enabled my husband and me to enjoy trying various types of marinated fish and also to actually sit at a counter in the market and converse with the chef as he was preparing our various dishes. The Gothic Quarter was the “icing on the cake” for us. What a great memories!
