Hello there, I'm Cláudio, a certified mountain guide born and raised in the beautiful island of Madeira. As a true local, I have a deep love and passion for the mountains and natural beauty of my island, and I would love to share my knowledge and expertise with you. My goal as a guide is to create a memorable experience for visitors who come to Madeira seeking adventure and stunning views. I specialize in hiking tours, where I take you on some of the most breathtaking trails that the island has to offer. As a fan of the local cuisine, I like to incorporate some of the island's delicious foods into my tours. You can expect to taste traditional Madeiran snacks such as bolo do caco (our local bread) and queijadas (small sweet cakes), as well as indulge in local dishes like espetada (grilled meat skewers), and fresh seafood such as espada (black scabbardfish), which is a Madeiran specialty. I've been working as a guide since 2019, but my passion for hiking started long before that. I have been exploring the mountains of Madeira since I was a child, and I know the island's terrain like the back of my hand. My goal is to show you the most interesting and stunning sights while ensuring your safety at all times. With a degree in biology, health, and environment, I have a deep understanding and appreciation for the natural beauty of the island. My tours are designed to not only showcase the stunning landscapes but also to educate visitors about the island's flora, fauna, and environment. I hope to be that guide who leaves you with lasting memories of Madeira Island and the desire to return. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a beginner, I promise to tailor your experience to your level of expertise, ensuring you have an unforgettable adventure. Let's explore the stunning mountains of Madeira Island together! Certified Mountain Guide Tourism Portugal license Don´t do tours in museums

The sunrise on the island of Madeira at 1862 meters above sea level is breathtaking for anyone who dares to wake up very early to glimpse this force of nature. Pico Ruivo is the third highest point in Portugal and the highest on Madeira Island, and we have an incredible view from the top of the mountain. We will get to know the fauna and flora that surrounds us, we will taste some plants and we will find out what traditional applications they had in other times. You will learn about the importance of Madeira wine for the region, as well as the history of Madeira sugar, which was sold throughout Europe and later exported to other regions.
The pickup at the hotel will be around 05:30 and we will drive to the north coast of the island for 45 minutes. After arring to the car park at (1600 meters above sea level) we are ready to start. Watching the sunrise with your loved ones is a wonderful way to start the day and create an unforgettable experience. Embark on a short 3-km hiking to the observation point (1862 meters above the sea) and be greeted by a stunning array of colors, scents, and even tastes that will stay with you throughout the day. Explore the mountains and trails like a local and discover hidden gems along the way. As the sun rises, venture to some of the most iconic places on the island, including Santana, where you can admire the traditional houses, or Porto da Cruz, where the famous Madeira Rum is produced. These destinations offer a glimpse into the rich culture and heritage of the island. We will be back in Funchal around 10:30. The itinerary is flexible, for any changes please let me know.
