After graduating from a Japanese university, I worked for a company that deals with study-abroad programs and had many opportunities to go abroad to take care of students. It was a fun experience to go abroad and meet new people. I came to think that I want to learn more about Japan because when I was abroad, I sometimes had trouble answering questions about Japan. These questions were things that were so obvious to me that I never thought about them. However, I have come to realize that such questions are actually what people overseas want to know. With this in mind, I have been reviewing Japan and guiding many people from overseas. I would like to share my experience and knowledge with you. ATTENTION!! NOT AVAILABLE in JULY and AUGUST. Do you have only a limited time in Tokyo? Want to hire a guide for the first few hours, and then explore Tokyo on your own? Then, this is the perfect tour for you. I will choose the best possible destinations to suit your taste. Typically, the tour visits 2 or 3 must-see places in Tokyo. I will also show you how to use the complex subway system and Japanese manners. I will briefly explain Japan's history and show you both modern and old Tokyo. I especially like doing this tour because I can share some historical background that might not be known if you visited the sites yourself. I like history, especially when Edo, former Tokyo, became the political center of Japan during the 17th to 19th centuries. That period was the foundation of today's Tokyo. SAMPLE 9:30 am Your hotel lobby in central Tokyo - Asakusa: Tokyo's oldest temple, Sensoji, and its approach, Nakamise street, lined with lots of small souvenir shops. - Meiji Shrine: Shinto shrine dedicated to Emperor Meiji - Harajuku/Omote-sando: Tokyo's trendy area 1:30 pm Tour finishes. *This tour does not have a break for lunch. Other options: - Rikugien Garden: a traditional Japanese garden made by a samurai lord in the Edo period, and was regarded as one of the most beautiful gardens in Edo, the former Tokyo. - Hama-rikyu Garden: Shogun's garden that dates back to the mid-17th century - Tsukiji Market - Akihabara - The Imperial Palace East Garden: the site where Edo castle was located 400 years ago. *The East Garden is usually closed on Mondays and Fridays. - Ginza: Sophisticated and upscale shopping district
