Vestmannaeyjar, Westman Islands are a cluster of islands that can only be described as a wonder of nature, just a few decades ago there was a volcanic eruption on the main island and a part of the town was buried under the lava. There is no way to describe the power of nature when it hits a small town like this but the townspeople fought the volcano and won (or at least a little bit as they were able to save a part of the town and harbor) so we will visit the Eldheimar Museum for some inside information from the locals about the devastating eruption. A day tour to this place is a must as it is truly amazing to see the landscape and how the people have rebuilt the town and their lives around this volcano site. In the summer the island is of course one of the best spots to see the puffins and get close to them and the Beluga Whale Sanctuary is another great way to get close to the wildlife surrounding Iceland. We will start early as we need to catch the ferry from Landeyjahöfn to Vestmannaeyjar
- Departure from Rejkyawik, - Driving time approx 2:30 min, including a ferry ride from Landeyjahöfn (35 - 40 min) - Landscapes and vistas - Eldheimar Museum Please feel free to contact me with your questions
