This is absolutely the must do tour when in Iceland! The route is steeped in history, geology, geography and scenic beauty. You won't regret hiring me to show you around this amazing route in comfort and style. Gullfoss waterfall is the most iconic waterfall in the country for a good reason, Strokkur spouting spring is one of very few spouting springs in the world, and Thingvellir national park is on the UNESCO world heritage site list because of its Viking Age-heritage. It is also the place of the rift valley between two continents, i. e. the American and the Eurasian.
Stefan was extremely knowledgeable and personable. His vehicle was clean and equipped with speakers so that everyone could hear him. He had extra rain jackets that we could wear. He even made dinner reservations for us, dropped us off at the restaurant, and returned a left-behind pair of gloves the next morning. A great tour and tour guide!
Stefan was an extraordinary guide. He picked us up at port and took us on the Golden Circle adventure. His tenure as a guide (38 years) gave his stories and history of the area an immersion experience. He was very professional and even worked a stop into a local gas station for us to try the iconic Icelandic hot dog! We are so glad we chose Stefan for our experience.
Stefan's Golden Circle Tour from Reykjavik was the high point of our 4 day trip to Iceland from the US. Stefan was extremely knowledgeable about the sights we encountered: volcanic lava rocks, volcanoes, geothermal steam vents, spouting geysers, distant glaciers, lakes, rivers, golden waterfalls, an intercontinental rift valley, an almost extra-planetary landscape, which served as the locale for several recent movies and TV productions. The trip was made even more interesting thanks to Stefan's colorful anecdotes with snippets of Icelandic History during the course of the tour, which combined with his pleasant personality and ready wit, made for a memorable day. A visit to the "Parliament Plains" where Viking Settlers founded the Althing, the world's oldest surviving parliament in 930 AD was spectacular! Before our return drive to Reykjavik, we stopped at a local farm where we had delicious gelato. Truly a trip we will always cherish, thanks to Stefan a remarkable guide who became a friend by day's end!
Our tour with Stefan was a wonderful way to end our post-cruise stay in Reykjavik! He has a wealth of knowledge of Iceland's history and geology. At his suggestion, we started the tour mid-afternoon, which helped us avoid some of the crowds. We look forward to seeing more of Iceland with Stefan when we return.
Great communication. Stefan was on time. He was knowledgeable and a great communicator. We hit all the sites as listed. Surprise stop for ice cream was a plus.

Depart Reykjavik for the Golden circle route. Visit Thingvellir national park the site of the ancient Viking-Age parliament and rift valley between two continents. Then head over to Gullfoss (Golden waterfall) the most iconic waterfall in the country before visiting the Geysir geothermal area and Strokkur spouting spring. Bathrooms and refreshments available in various places along this route. This is a tried and tested route and never disappoints. Having a guide like myself at your side will make your experience along this route so much better. The Golden circle tour is a relatively short but rewarding day tour. If you'd like to extend it to include airport transfer, Blue lagoon visit, city tour or even the south coast of Iceland in one day - Please ask. In summer - to avoid the crowds - recommended starting time is at 7 am (morning), or 2 pm (afternoon). Evenings are great too! In winter - recommended starting time is 8 am, or 9 am, depending on which month you travel.
