The Golden Circle, Greenhouse and a visit to a Giant's grave from Reykjavik

Tours by Locals Review 6 stars if possible We have been using Tours by Locals for the past 20+ years all over the world and were fortunate enough to meet Erla Ruth on out trip to Reykjavic Iceland prior to our Regent ship cruise to Iceland and Greenland. From our very first inquiry, Erla was quick to respond to my many questions and always provided more information than requested. What was the best hotel location, how to get to ship from airport etc??? We decided to do the all day Golden Circle tour and boy were we glad to have chosen her. While most of the tour buses started with a visit to the Nationak Park, Erla chose the reverse route and ended with the National Park. As such, all our stops were less crowded. In addition to speaking several languages, she was a fountain of knowledge about the early settlers, the history of Iceland ( and Eric the Red) as well as many stories about the legendary creatures from the past.) We even went to a greenhouse to watch the process of providing much need fresh vegetables ( along with a delightful restaurant inside the greenhouse . She was always smiling and giving us choices at each stop and even moving her car to a closer location than the drop off point to ensure we didn’t have to reverse walk up hill too far. We enjoyed her so much at the beginning of our 10 day cruise, we are spending an additional day with her at the end of our cruise. If you are lucky enough to be able to book her when she is available, you will have made a GREAT DECISION.

Rela Ruth was fantastic. She had stories about Iceland, customs, traditions and folklore. as well as a detailed knowledge about the sites we visited. She added several we did not expect because we had some additional time It was the best tour ever!!!

This tour was amazing. Doing a private tour was of course, more expensive but the degree of flexibility especially with young children was worth it. Our guide, Erla was a perfect educator for our Golden Circle adventure!

Honestly, one of the BEST tours we have EVER taken!!! We were absolutely delighted with our day trip with Erla! She is so warm, friendly and good humored. Her knowledge of Iceland history, geology and geography added greatly to our tour. She gave us a wonderful and thoughtfully laid out tour, which minimized being at stops while large crowds were there. It was an awe inspiring day, with several fabulous “surprises”. Additionally, her vehicle was very comfortable and immaculately clean.

We took a tour of the Golden Circle with guide Erla Ruth. There were four of us. We have had multiple tours with Tours by Locals as well as other tour companies. We can honestly say that with Erla Ruth, we had one of the best tours ever! She was quite informative and extremely knowledgeable but most importantly became a friend for our 8 hours. An excellent and memorable day. Stunning scenery and places of natural interest. Reasonable amount of driving with regular stops. Erla Ruth was warm and engaging and highly knowledgeable. She was responsive to our needs and questions throughout. We were a party of 4 and Erla Ruth's car was a little cramped. Some members of the party were a little nervous of her driving while turning to talk and gesticulate, but I (front seat) was confident throughout. Highly recommended
