I grew up in Reykjavik but now live in the suburbs. I have three grown-up sons which I try to see as often as I can. My nickname is Ingi. I completed degrees in business studies at the Commercial College of Iceland and at the Polytechnic at Armuli. I did attend Columbia College in Chicago without completing a degree. I worked for two airlines in Iceland as a team leader in their Purchasing & Logistics departments. I was based in England for a couple of years and later lived in the Baltic states for few years and worked as Purchasing & Logistics Manager for an airline and then as Manager of a maintenance planning company. During those years I did travel extensively. I have been to most countries in Europe and to twenty states in US. I have just recently started my own company called Itours after working for nine years as a driver guide for a tour operator. I completed guide school at the Icelandic School of Travel and Tourism and have a tour operator license from the Icelandic Tourist Board. I have an operator license for my Mercedes Benz SUV from the Icelandic Transport Authority and a valid driver license that entitles me to drive all cars and buses. I am well versed in private day tours from the Reykjavik area, but I have also completed multi-day tours in the countryside and the ten-day ring road tour around the country a few times. I know almost all the tourist sites in Iceland and often been surprised to see itineraries that leave out sites that I consider unique, so I make it my goal to take my passengers to sites that are considered off the beaten track. Iceland is a beautiful country, and tourists come to Iceland to be in nature. All my day tours include one to three easy walks in the amazing Icelandic nature. After a long day on a tour, I think that a relaxing time in a nature bath or pool is ideal before returning to the hotel, so I offer the possibility to visit nature baths. They have become very popular in Iceland in recent years and there are many to choose from, with the Blue Lagoon being the best known. I am always on time for pickups and my timing for tours is impeccable. Iceland has become a very popular tourist destination, especially in the summer. The passengers that I have guided in recent years have complained that the more popular sites are too crowded. My solution to this problem is to start day tours from Reykjavik at 8 am in the morning, as it will guarantee an enjoyable experience. I have had comments from tourists that meeting Icelanders is quite often the highlight of the day and therefore I try to include visits to farms, restaurants, and shops where you might find some of my countrymen. I have good knowledge of Icelandic history and know Icelandic society of today even better. I am confident in my abilities as a storyteller, and I do throw in some jokes into the conversation. I know the city of Reykjavik very well and have been able to help my passengers to find the appropriate museums, restaurants and shops. My goal is to make a modest living running my small tour company and my challenge is to find enough work during the winter months. I have supplemented my income by working as a private driver for actors during film and television productions and transferred tourists between the city of Reykjavik and the international airport at Keflavik. My aim is to provide comfortable travel using my experience and know how to provide quality service.

This tour starts with a convenient drive from Keflavík Airport to Reykjavik in my Mercedes SUV. This Reykjavík sightseeing tour is ideal for first-time visitors seeking a relaxed introduction to Iceland's vibrant capital, combining iconic landmarks and the charm of the city center. Along the way, I'll share stories about Iceland's history, culture, and everyday life. Once in Reykjavik, we begin in the Old Harbor before circling the city with stops at Grótta Lighthouse, Nauthólsvík Geothermal Beach, Perlan Exhibition Center, Hallgrímskirkja Church, Höfði House, the Sun Voyager sculpture, and Harpa Concert Hall. Along the way, we travel along Laugavegur, Reykjavík's main shopping street, and explore the historic downtown area, including City Hall, Alþingi Parliament House, and the picturesque Tjörnin (the Pond). By the end of the tour, you'll have visited the city's most famous landmarks and feel confident finding your way around the heart of the capital. I can customize the tour to match your interests.

We had a delightful 5 hours with IngoLfur. His knowledge of Reykjavik specifically and Iceland in general, was perfect for our needs. His flexibility in adding the Flyover stop was great. We had a most memorable introduction to Iceland!
Ingi was on time. Good in his English explanations to questions posed. Thorough.
We had just completed and was disembarking from a cruise, Ingi was waiting to greet us. We had provided a list of activities and attractions that we wanted to see for the day we had available and being volcano nerds. It was wonderful having a 'friend for a day' with local knowledge rather than trying to navigate the streets ourselves. We were able to ask all the questions we wanted and Ingi shared details of local history, points of interest and knew all the shortcuts to pack in a very memorable day. Without any hesitation, we would strongly recommend Ingi to anyone wanting a personalized experience. We will now be a client of ToursByLocals moving forward. Our experience was fantastic!!
