Hi, and welcome to Reykjavik! My name is Dofri and I'll be your tour guide in this beautiful land I call home. I grew up both in Reykjavik and on the country side. At the farm (we bred sheep and riding horses) I learned to appreciate the nature. Still, today, when I feel stressed out, I go out hiking. Nature has a way of calming the mind and show you what really matters. I have spent most of my adult years in Reykjavik and I love the way it can be both a small village and a vibrant city at the same time. I try to combine the best of those two worlds and I am lucky because in just a half an hour drive from Reykjavik you can be out in beautiful nature if you know where to go. If you like the remote, unspoiled nature of the volcanoes, I would love to show you some of my favorite secret places. I have done many different things in my life. I am an actor, I have an MSc in Applied Economics, I have been active in nature preservation campaigns in Iceland and I also participated in Icelandic politics for a while. I am also a member of Search and Rescue volunteers team in Iceland, a good way both to learn how to cope with nature and to give back to the society. I am passionate about my island, I respect the history of the people living here since and I love to share both the heritage and the scenery of nature with small groups of people. I like to think of me as a host rather than a guide and my customers as my guests. Coming on a tour with me should be like visiting an old friend in Iceland that takes you out to show you around. I look forward to showing you my country and tell you a bit about the people, the folklore, trolls, elves and outlaws. :) A fully qualified and active search and rescue member of the Icelandic Search and Rescue Association in Iceland (ICE-SAR - Landsbjörg). 20 years experience as a tour guide. Qualified to drive vehicles with up to 50 passengers. I am not qualified as a glacier guide and will there for hire such services upon a request.

During the day you will be seeing some of the most beautiful places in Iceland. Volcanoes, beautiful waterfalls, and stunning black sand beaches. This is probably the most visited area of Iceland, second to the Golden Circle and it is for a reason. It truly is wonderful scenery. I always try to leave some time for the element of surprise. On a private tour like this, we can be flexible and visit some hidden places away from the famous tourist attractions. I love to show my guests some of them, depending on the weather, walking abilities, and seasons. Sometimes the spontaneous decision to wander off the main road and sit down at a place far away from the crowds ends up being the highlight of the tour. To make the experience even more fun and personal, I sometimes bring my super well-behaved Border Collies with me. For my youngest customers, the dogs usually make the day for them.
In this tour, we drive over Mt. Hengill, one of Reykjavik's volcanoes over to the South coast. On the way down at the other side, we begin to see the South Coast volcanoes emerging in the distance. Driving through the south we see volcanoes and glaciers on our left hand and the Atlantic on our right. We also pass some stunning waterfalls like Seljalandsfoss and Skógarfoss. On the way there, we have the option of a stop at the Volcano Center in Hvolsvöllur. It is a newly opened interactive volcano museum that brings the volcanoes to life. The famous black sand beach of Reynisfjara is one of the main stops, but we will also have the option to have lunch at Vik, and even book an ice cave tour from there before heading back to Reykjavik. Remember, this is a private tour for your group, so feel free to express your wishes.

For 4 people or fewer, I may use a medium size 4x4 that seats 4 passengers. Most often though, I use my new Mercedes Benz minivan with comfortable leather seats for up to 9 passengers.
