I grew up in Reykjavik but now live in the suburbs. I have three grown-up sons which I try to see as often as I can. My nickname is Ingi. I completed degrees in business studies at the Commercial College of Iceland and at the Polytechnic at Armuli. I did attend Columbia College in Chicago without completing a degree. I worked for two airlines in Iceland as a team leader in their Purchasing & Logistics departments. I was based in England for a couple of years and later lived in the Baltic states for few years and worked as Purchasing & Logistics Manager for an airline and then as Manager of a maintenance planning company. During those years I did travel extensively. I have been to most countries in Europe and to twenty states in US. I have just recently started my own company called Itours after working for nine years as a driver guide for a tour operator. I completed guide school at the Icelandic School of Travel and Tourism and have a tour operator license from the Icelandic Tourist Board. I have an operator license for my Mercedes Benz SUV from the Icelandic Transport Authority and a valid driver license that entitles me to drive all cars and buses. I am well versed in private day tours from the Reykjavik area, but I have also completed multi-day tours in the countryside and the ten-day ring road tour around the country a few times. I know almost all the tourist sites in Iceland and often been surprised to see itineraries that leave out sites that I consider unique, so I make it my goal to take my passengers to sites that are considered off the beaten track. Iceland is a beautiful country, and tourists come to Iceland to be in nature. All my day tours include one to three easy walks in the amazing Icelandic nature. After a long day on a tour, I think that a relaxing time in a nature bath or pool is ideal before returning to the hotel, so I offer the possibility to visit nature baths. They have become very popular in Iceland in recent years and there are many to choose from, with the Blue Lagoon being the best known. I am always on time for pickups and my timing for tours is impeccable. Iceland has become a very popular tourist destination, especially in the summer. The passengers that I have guided in recent years have complained that the more popular sites are too crowded. My solution to this problem is to start day tours from Reykjavik at 8 am in the morning, as it will guarantee an enjoyable experience. I have had comments from tourists that meeting Icelanders is quite often the highlight of the day and therefore I try to include visits to farms, restaurants, and shops where you might find some of my countrymen. I have good knowledge of Icelandic history and know Icelandic society of today even better. I am confident in my abilities as a storyteller, and I do throw in some jokes into the conversation. I know the city of Reykjavik very well and have been able to help my passengers to find the appropriate museums, restaurants and shops. My goal is to make a modest living running my small tour company and my challenge is to find enough work during the winter months. I have supplemented my income by working as a private driver for actors during film and television productions and transferred tourists between the city of Reykjavik and the international airport at Keflavik. My aim is to provide comfortable travel using my experience and know how to provide quality service.

Departing from Reykjavík in my Mercedes SUV, this tour is designed to be relaxed, giving you plenty of time to enjoy each destination. Along the way, I'll share stories about Iceland's history, culture, and everyday life. Reykjanes Peninsula is an UNESCO Global Geopark and is home to Iceland's most recent volcanic activity, with 12 eruptions since March 16, 2021. The route begins at the beautiful Lake Kleifarvatn, followed by the geothermal area at Seltún. We then travel through the volcanic landscapes near Grindavík. We continue to the coastal cliffs by the Reykjanes Lighthouse and stop at the powerful Gunnuhver hot spring. We visit the Bridge Between Continents, where you can walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. The tour concludes with a convenient drive back to Reykjavik. By the end of the day, you'll have experienced Iceland's recent volcanic activity, geothermal wonders, dramatic coastline, and breathtaking scenery. I can customize the tour to match your interests.

Loved my private tour! Vehicle extremely clean and loved all the historical information as well as how Icelanders live today.
Ingi gave us a very nice and well-timed tour of the Reykjanes Peninsula, where he had many stops planned to observe the natural wonders of the area. He also adapted for the limited mobility needs of one of our party without ever seeming to do anything differently. We appreciated Ingi's broad knowledge, his insights on the evolving developments in the region and his very comfortable car. Our Icelandic friends were impressed with all we had gotten to see.
What a wonderful experience!!! We learned and saw so much. The weather wasn't the best but Ingólfur Jóhannesson pivoted and added some different options. Highly HIGHLY recommend Ingólfur!
Our family took a 5 hour morning tour of the Reykjanes Peninsula the morning we arrived in Iceland and it was a perfect introduction to this beautiful island. Ingolfur (Ingi) did a great job showing us the top sites and giving us the history of the area. We saw expansive lava fields, unique geothermal areas, beautiful coastal views, stood on the bridge between continents, visited Grindavik (the town that has been evacuated due to recent lava flows), and so much more. At the end of our tour, Ingi even briefly drove us around Reykavik and told us about the top sights around town since we had some "extra" time. But what really impressed us was that after arriving at our hotel to drop us off, he waited while we checked in, and then drove us to where he knew we wanted to eat lunch (which would've been a 40 min walk.) We were so thankful, and definitely recommend Ingolfur!
Main Stops • Lake Kleifarvatn: finish with a short stop at one of Iceland’s youngest lakes. • Seltún geothermal area: continue with a walk through colorful geothermal terrain. • Grindavík: drive through the village that was evacuated because of recent volcanic activity. • Brimketill: visit a dramatic lava-rock pool shaped by the North Atlantic Sea. • Reykjanesviti lighthouse: take in the seaside cliffs near one of the peninsula’s landmark lighthouses. • Gunnuhver: walk to a powerful hot spring in one of the area’s most active geothermal zones. • Bridge between the Continents: cross the footbridge spanning the boundary between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. Optional Experiences (additional cost) • Blue Lagoon – relax with a soak in natural geothermal waters. • Viking World – go onboard a replica Viking ship which in 2000 sailed across the Atlantic The tour concludes with a convenient drive back to Reykjavik.
