Golden Circle of Iceland. Day Tour From Reykjavik

Our trip to the Golden Circle with Sergei was fantastic. We began, as the tour is listed, at the Thingvellir National Park, where we were able to walk along the Almanagja fissure. The Gullfoss waterfalll was as spectacular as described - with Sergei guiding us to a walkable trail close to the falls. He provided us with good advice as to how to manage it safely and took some incredible photos of us at the falls. We traveler to Geysir Valley and we stayed long enough to see several eruptions., with Sergei leading us to areas where we have great views of the area. We were amazed at the tomato greenhouses at the Fridheimar Greenhouse and our lunch there was delicious. Sergei provided us with some history of the greenhouses, their methods of production, and even showed us how bees are used to pollinate and keep the crops growing. A special little out-of-the way stop was for ice cream at a dairy along the way. The tour ended with a stop at Kerid Crater, which didn't disappoint - Sergei helped us hike to the top so we could experience the spectacular view and walk along the caldera rim. I was hard to believe we were able to see and do so much! The tour began and ended within the allotted time, but never felt rushed. Sergei was so considerate of our needs, was so very knowledgeable of the history and geology of the area, and took some fantastic photos of us. I would highly recommend this tour with Sergei!

Sergei was a fountain of knowledge on the geology, customs and history of Iceland. He was very accommodating on our tour and made sure that everyone was comfortable on our short hikes. We especially enjoyed the "Tomato Farm Restaurant" he took us to for lunch. It was a delicious meal and he spent extra time explaining how the tomato farming worked after our meal. This tour was the best! Sergei communicated with us as to the arrival time and location. He had a very comfortable clean vehicle. The best part was his knowledge and concern that we were comfortable. Both my wife and I are in our 70's and he made sure that we were comfortable with the distances to walk and that we covered what we wanted and were able to see. The tour itself was well laid out. We truly enjoyed where he took us for lunch. It was a farm that grows 40% of the tomatoes grown in Iceland. Fabulous restaurant. The tomato soup and bread we chose for lunch were so good, we are thinking about another trip to Iceland. We were back to our hotel on time and with great pictures and memories. I would say, without any reservation, that if you want a personalized tour in Iceland, do yourself a favor and book with Sergei. You will not be disappointed. Thanks again Sergei.

My husband and I arrived in Reykjavik by cruise ship on July 29 and wanted an alternative to the big bus tour of The Golden Circle which is why we decided to book a private tour with Tours by Locals. We selected Sergei based on the tour description and his reviews. It was everything and more than we expected. His knowledge of the area, history of the sites visited and suggestions of where to get the best pictures and views was fantastic. We learned so much!
