Hi, and welcome to Reykjavik! My name is Dofri and I'll be your tour guide in this beautiful land I call home. I grew up both in Reykjavik and on the country side. At the farm (we bred sheep and riding horses) I learned to appreciate the nature. Still, today, when I feel stressed out, I go out hiking. Nature has a way of calming the mind and show you what really matters. I have spent most of my adult years in Reykjavik and I love the way it can be both a small village and a vibrant city at the same time. I try to combine the best of those two worlds and I am lucky because in just a half an hour drive from Reykjavik you can be out in beautiful nature if you know where to go. If you like the remote, unspoiled nature of the volcanoes, I would love to show you some of my favorite secret places. I have done many different things in my life. I am an actor, I have an MSc in Applied Economics, I have been active in nature preservation campaigns in Iceland and I also participated in Icelandic politics for a while. I am also a member of Search and Rescue volunteers team in Iceland, a good way both to learn how to cope with nature and to give back to the society. I am passionate about my island, I respect the history of the people living here since and I love to share both the heritage and the scenery of nature with small groups of people. I like to think of me as a host rather than a guide and my customers as my guests. Coming on a tour with me should be like visiting an old friend in Iceland that takes you out to show you around. I look forward to showing you my country and tell you a bit about the people, the folklore, trolls, elves and outlaws. :) A fully qualified and active search and rescue member of the Icelandic Search and Rescue Association in Iceland (ICE-SAR - Landsbjörg). 20 years experience as a tour guide. Qualified to drive vehicles with up to 50 passengers. I am not qualified as a glacier guide and will there for hire such services upon a request.

Overview of your Reykjavik tour

The Golden Circle is a classic tour when visiting Iceland. You will visit the National Park where the Vikings used to gather for Congress, The Geysir hot spring area, and the powerful waterfall Gullfoss. Most visitors take this tour and 90% of them do the bus tour. That is OK, but for small groups, it's much better to go on a private tour with a local guide. When I have friends coming to visit I want them to see more. It depends a bit on the seasons, but whatever time of year, there is always something wonderful to explore off the beaten path. To make the experience even more fun and personal, I sometimes bring my super well-behaved Border Collies with me. For my youngest customers, the dogs usually make the day for them. We are not in a hurry. Take the time to walk up on an old crater, stop to pet some horses, see more waterfalls, or even dip into the Secret Lagoon hot springs is all good extra fun on a Golden Circle Private tour.

This was an outstanding experience! Dofri is so knowledgeable and has many great stories to share. My 11 year old is still talking about how his favorite thing he heard on our entire trip was Dofri’s stories. We also had the pleasure of having Kvika (his very amazing dog) on the trip and we were all so happy for snuggles. I think she may have been my son’s favorite part of the trip as well. Dofri is an excellent guide and knows all the best places. We got to go at our own pace and spend time where we wanted too. He gives lots of options. It’s an experience you do not want to miss!

All eight members of our group loved the trip on the Golden Circle with Dofri Hermansson. We had a little mixup at the beginning (all my fault!) and he made it all work out with style and grace. Your Reykjavik tour itinerary

The tour changes a bit from one season to another. Of course, what is always in it are the three famous attractions: The National Park at Þingvellir, the Geysir hot spring area, and the Gullfoss, one of Iceland's most powerful waterfalls. However, the weather in Iceland is rather unpredictable and I enjoy adopting this tour to both the weather and the wishes of my guests. Therefore this tour is never exactly the same from one day to another. What I always aim for is making the most of what each day has to offer us. It is essential on this tour - like all private tours - to take the time to enjoy. Not only the main attractions but also the unforeseen adventures we will find if we give ourselves the time.
