Hi there, My name is Julien and I have been guiding tours all over Iceland since 2019. I offer different kinds of tours, from hiking to family-friendly sightseeing tours, but what I like the most are the personalized tours: I love to connect with my clients beforehand to give them exactly the experience that is right for them. This is why after a few years of guiding groups I decided to specialize in private tours, and particularly tailor-made ones. I have two vehicles ready for you, one is a high end van that can accommodate up to 6 adults comfortably, which is only suitable for paved roads. The other one is a modified LandCruiser, extremely spacious and comfortable for up to 4 adults, which is your best companion for adventurous journeys in the Icelandic Highlands. I am a fully licensed tour operator and my vehicles have all the authorizations required for commercial use. - Wilderness First Responder (Advanced first aid Training) - Commercial driving licenses - Day Tour Operator license I am not allowed to sell package tours that include accomodation.

Overview of your Reykjavik tour

I love this tour, because, even if we are not technically yet in the Icelandic Highlands, it feels just like it. And it is accessible for a broader period of time. I also love that the roads are not suitable for any kind of vehicle, as it makes the locations much less crowded than other regions of Iceland. One specificity of this tour is that it is not limited to sightseeing, in fact, two visits will have a historical interest, related to the Viking era. And, of course, as we are in Iceland, we will also do some sightseeing to discover breathtaking landscapes. To do this tour, we will be using my modified SuperJeep, to be very comfortable as we are driving on rocky roads and rugged terrain. This adds to the true feeling of adventure. At the end of the day, we will finish (depending on availability) by having dinner in a Viking-themed restaurant with the finest food and delicacies. This is the first year that I am operating this tour, and I am really looking forward to guiding you there.

Julien, our scheduled tour guide, was unable to conduct our tour, but he asked Stephan to substitute and take us to some of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland. Stephan was an excellent guide: very friendly, very knowledgeable and very receptive to our needs. Stephan was born in France but moved to Iceland over thirty years ago and gave us a unique perspective on Iceland’s culture, people, and customs. Stephan demonstrated his excellent driving skills, going through many areas with difficult rocky roads. We were able to see the Hjálparfoss, Gjáin, Háifoss and Grannifoss waterfalls, and visit replica and reconstructed Viking long house sites. Thank You Stephan for making this a tour we will long remember.

Villi is a terrific guide! We loved the time he spent with us! He is a wealth of knowledge and his cabins at his home very nice to stay in for the two nights we spent at his house. His wife is a fantastic cook and even though we had to pay for the dinners, it was so worth it! 4 course meals each night - all delicious ! We had a terrific two days in Iceland with our guide Julien A. Julien is a wonderful source of local knowledge and guided us through the spectacular vistas that are Iceland. You cannot go wrong choosing Julien. He also speaks about 5 languages.

Your Reykjavik tour itinerary

Pickup time at your hotel or from the cruise ship is rather flexible, then: - Our first stop will be the double waterfall of Hjálparfoss - We will then head towards Stöng, where we will discover the remains of an old long house that tracks back to the Viking era. It is believed that people used to live around the year 1100, then intermittently until the year 1300. The house has been found and excavated by archeologists in 1939. - Our next stop will be Gjáin, an oasis, with waterfalls, water streams, and lush vegetation in the middle of a dark rocky desert. - Then, we will discover what are probably the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland: Háifoss (High waterfall) and Granni. A gorgeous view. - Our last stop will be a museum/exhibition that is actually a replica of the excavated house from Stöng. This shows how historians think the Vikings used to live back in the days. - Finally, for dinner, depending on availability, we will eat in a Viking restaurant, offering fine cuisine made out of local ingredients.
