Hi, and welcome to Reykjavik! My name is Dofri and I'll be your tour guide in this beautiful land I call home. I grew up both in Reykjavik and on the country side. At the farm (we bred sheep and riding horses) I learned to appreciate the nature. Still, today, when I feel stressed out, I go out hiking. Nature has a way of calming the mind and show you what really matters. I have spent most of my adult years in Reykjavik and I love the way it can be both a small village and a vibrant city at the same time. I try to combine the best of those two worlds and I am lucky because in just a half an hour drive from Reykjavik you can be out in beautiful nature if you know where to go. If you like the remote, unspoiled nature of the volcanoes, I would love to show you some of my favorite secret places. I have done many different things in my life. I am an actor, I have an MSc in Applied Economics, I have been active in nature preservation campaigns in Iceland and I also participated in Icelandic politics for a while. I am also a member of Search and Rescue volunteers team in Iceland, a good way both to learn how to cope with nature and to give back to the society. I am passionate about my island, I respect the history of the people living here since and I love to share both the heritage and the scenery of nature with small groups of people. I like to think of me as a host rather than a guide and my customers as my guests. Coming on a tour with me should be like visiting an old friend in Iceland that takes you out to show you around. I look forward to showing you my country and tell you a bit about the people, the folklore, trolls, elves and outlaws. :) A fully qualified and active search and rescue member of the Icelandic Search and Rescue Association in Iceland (ICE-SAR - Landsbjörg). 20 years experience as a tour guide. Qualified to drive vehicles with up to 50 passengers. I am not qualified as a glacier guide and will there for hire such services upon a request.

West of Iceland has it all. A natural pool, a glacier, waterfalls, lava, and volcanoes. Also charming fishing villages and breathtaking views all around the Snæfellsnes peninsula. This beautiful part of Iceland is where I grew up so I take special pleasure in introducing it to my guests. I love to make small, custom changes to my tours. It depends on my guest's wishes, and a bit on the seasons, but whatever time of year, there is always something wonderful to explore off the beaten path. To make the experience even more fun and personal, I sometimes bring my super well-behaved Border Collies with me. For my youngest customers, the dogs often make the highlight of the day!
On this tour, we spend the day stopping at some of the area's most beautiful places. Some of them are quite famous, such as Snæfellsjökull National Park with Djúpalónssandur, Hellnar, Arnarstapi, and Gerðuberg. Many of my favorite places are however not famous at all or crowded with people but just as breathtaking and special. I like to start this tour rather early. We start by driving north to Borgarnes, and there the adventure begins. Soon you will see young lava and volcano craters, cinder cones, and basalt columns. We might drop by at a small natural bath or drive on to see some wonderful waterfalls. Snæfellsnes is not only the area of a glacier, volcano, waterfalls, and breathtaking beaches. It is also known for great sagas and stories of Vikings, trolls, outlaws, berserks, mass murderers, and godless people. I might tell you about Bárður Snæfellsás, Grettir the Strong, and some other stories along the way. Easy to customize upon request.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
For 4 people or fewer, I may use a medium-sized 4x4 that seats 4 passengers. Most often though, I use my new Mercedes Benz minivan with comfortable leather seats for up to 9 passengers.
