My name is Bjorn and I was born and raised in Iceland, and I know my country well by experience. I am a Certified Guide and I have a passion for traveling and I use every chance I get to travel whether it's in Iceland or abroad. I drive an Audi Q7 e-tron which offers great comfort for up to 4 passengers or a Toyota Proace Verso that suits up to 7 passengers. Going with a professional driver who knows his country and conditions well is a good way to travel since weather conditions in Iceland in the winter time can be harsh and unpredictable. Iceland truly is an amazing and fascinating country with breathtaking scenery and untouched nature and I want you to enjoy it to the fullest and have a save and the most authentic experience as possible. During my university studies I did an exchange year in Vienna, Austria and there I made a lot of friends from all over the world. I've been lucky enough to have some of them visit me here in Iceland and it was then when I discovered my passion for introducing Iceland to visitors. Ship ahoy and welcome to Reykjavik, my birth town and the world's most northerly capital. I was born and raised in the capital area and it has been my home for all my life. Reykjavik is known for its colorful houses and it was the home of the first permanent settlements in Iceland. Reykjavik actually means smokey bay since that is what the viking Ingolfur Arnarson founder of the city first saw, steam rising up from the hot springs when he stepped into the land. It is a small city but what it lacks in size it makes up by its quirkiness and by being interesting and different from most other European cities. It is a great place for foodies since there is a big variety of great restaurants and cafes and the local hotdog stand is one of the most popular food stops. In this tour I will take you around the city and show you all of its highlights. The city has a lot to offer and it's perfect for a day excursion.

Bjorn provided a terrific tour of Reykjavik on our first day in Iceland. He built a great foundation for our visit taking us to see some of the best architecture in town (starting with Harpa, the great modernist concert hall), to the great cathedral (Hallgrimskirkja), out to the major coastal sights and back to the historical landmarks (Regan-Gorbachav negotiations, Fisher-Spatsky Chess). His insights on culture, architecture, history, faith, and food were each outstanding and enlivened the rest of our stay in Iceland. We have done Tours by Locals in multiple geographies and Bjorn is one of the best in the world.
