I'm a local, born and raised in Iceland. I've spent most of my life in the Reykjavík area, with 10 years in Akureyri, North Iceland. I've also lived abroad in Norway, the United States, and Brussels, Belgium, where my two daughters were born. These experiences have shaped how I see my country and how I enjoy sharing it with others. When I'm not guiding, I'm a proud dad of two football-loving (soccer-loving for my U.S. clients) daughters (ages 12 and 15), which makes me a dedicated soccer dad in my free time. I love hiking and have explored all of Iceland's most popular routes, giving me a deep, practical knowledge of the country's landscapes and hidden corners. By background, I'm a political scientist and have spent most of my career working in government. Four years ago, I decided to turn a long-held dream into reality and trained as a licensed guide while still working full-time. I also earned a commercial driving license, allowing me to offer seamless driver-guide services. Since making the switch, I've never looked back. I genuinely enjoy introducing guests to Iceland's nature, history, and culture in a relaxed, fun, and engaging way. My tours are fully customizable and centred on excellent service. My goal is for guests to feel safe, well cared for, and to leave with both knowledge and great memories. I guide in a Mercedes-Benz Vito Tourer, a comfortable mid-sized van with room for luggage. It accommodates up to seven passengers, though five is ideal for maximum comfort. Airport and cruise terminal transfers are available, and larger vehicles can be arranged if needed. When you book with me, the day is yours. Some guests prefer the shortest return to Reykjavík, while others enjoy adding extra stops along the way. I'm flexible and happy to adjust as we go. If you have ideas or special interests, feel free to get in touch. I'm always happy to help design a tour that fits you perfectly.

On this tour, we would hike up a mountain or a hiking trail near Reykjavik. Iceland's capital city is surrounded by many mountains and hiking trails worth exploring! Since this is a fully customizable tour, we'll be able to decide what mountain or what trail we go on according to your personal hiking experience and what you're comfortable with. Among popular hiking routes to choose from around Reykjavik for rather inexperienced hikers, are Mount Esja, Ulfarsfell Mountain & Burfellsgja (a trail to an old volcanic crater). For more experienced hikers, I would suggest hiking to Helgafell mountain, Keilir mountain or trekking to the Glymur waterfall (the tallest one in Iceland). It would also be possible to hike to lavafields and craters in Iceland, which are located close to the town of Grindavik. Please send me a message prior to the tour date so we can determine the ideal location beforehand!
-Either picking you up from an agreed point on either Reykjavik or any nearby towns, we'd drive to the mountain or hiking trail we chose together. -We'd then begin our hike, where I'll contextualize you about Iceland's geology and how mountains where shaped in the ice age. -As we go, we'll be able to stop for pictures, relax and contemplate the scenery. Also keep your eyes open for birds! -Once we conclude our hike, we'd head to geothermal swimming pool in Reykjavik to refresh ourselves as a reward after exploring. Note that taking a shower before entering is mandatory. -As we deservingly enjoy the water, I will discuss how using geothermal water is a big part of our culture for hundreds of years. It has even been listed by UNESCO as part of the intangible World Heritage. -Afterwards, we could pass by a local hot dog stand to try the famous Icelandic hot dog. -Finally, I'll drop you off at the agreed upon location.

Mercedes-Benz Vito Tourer model 2022, yet the the more extended version of the model, so there's enough space for luggage if needed. The van is 4WD, which is often good to have in the wintertime here in Iceland. If you needed a bigger car/bus, I could deliver the tour on a Mercedes Sprinter for an additional cost so please contact me before booking if you'd like to request it.
