My name is Sóla. I am born here in Iceland. I love to hike up in the mountains, watch the birds in the summer time and swim in our geothermal swimming pools the whole year around. I studied photography in the States many years ago, worked in Germany and studied French in France. As a child my family spent one year in Denmark. I started tour guiding at 22 when I came home from France because of my knowlege of French. Back then all the roads were dirt roads, there were no telephones and we slept in tents and I still enjoy camping out and hiking out in the nature! I would love to share with you my love for my country and share with you some of it's most beautiful places. Be it the most popular turist spots or the remote and untouched wildernes areas, qaint little villages or cafés. I try my very best to show you the places that would appeal to you. I have a great knowledge of my country and have been working as a tour guide and a driver guide for many many years. I find a visit to the Reykjanes Peninsula, the youngest part of the country, always interesting may it rain or shine. The endless lava black fields sometimes covered in green moss make up a very unique and mystical landscape. The scenery around Kleifarvatn area with it's dark brown tuff rocks and the sizzling hot springs by Seltun add to the variety of this place . Along the shore are small fishing communities where Icelanders have lived throughout the centuries and survived on fishing. In early summer I recommend a detour to Krisuvikurberg sea cliffs if you are interested in ocean birds. *** A stop at the Blue Lagoon or the Sky Lagoon is an extra option
Sola was wonderful! She really deserves at least six stars! She was accommodating, knowledgable and helpful in laying out a custom tour for us that was focused on the very interesting geology and geography of Iceland. Her vehicle was very comfortable for the four of us (plus Sola) and I think it could go wherever in Iceland that anyone would want to go! All of our five TBL guides have been very good or excellent, but Sola was the best of all!
We spent our first day in Iceland with Solrun and she was the perfect guide - thoughtful, flexible, sensitive to our interests and energies, ready to share knowledge without ever imposing it. We couldn't have found a better companion.

Communication with Solrun from the beginning to the end of the tour was fantastic! She listened to what we wanted to see, met us at the Keflavík airport and delivered a tour loaded with great sights and stories by a local resident. It was a great experience and I recommend her to anyone looking for a tour of the Reykjavík area.

Solrun was amazing. When our previous tour was changed, we were not able to go to the lagoon geothermal bath. We contacted Solrun and asked if she was able to alter our tour to include a lagoon visit. Not only did she accomodate us but she booked the tickets to Sky Lagoon. This tour was the highlight of our 17 day vacation. She went above and beyond our expations. Thanks so much Solrun.
