Overview of your Reykjavik tour
Visit one of Iceland's most scenic places - full of recent lava fields, craters and amazing black, green, red and yellow colors for photography. Take a hot bath in the local hot spring and hike for an hour or two in a 500 year old lava field. Available from mid June - September.
Your Reykjavik tour itinerary
Travel from Reykjavik across a mountain pass over the the South coast lowland and then onward into the wilderness of Iceland. It is necessary to drive through some unbridged streams en route to the gravel road that is officially only open in summer. A visit to Landmannalaugar is not complete without a short hike in a lava field 500 years old and a bath in the local hot spring. I've been taking people to this magical place for over 20 years and the place never disappoints. It is a geological wonder. Our main stop is at Landmannalaugar where you can hike for a couple of hours to see a geothermal area and lava field, and / or take a bath in a natural hot spring. On our way to Landmannalaugar we'll see some of Iceland's wild interior highlands, glacier rivers and hydro electric power stations. We'll see the fragile arctic vegetation typical for Iceland's highlands and amazing volcanic formations.
