Góðan daginn my name is Ingólfur Páll Matthíasson people call me Ingo and I am the expert from the north you have been looking for. As a professional and experienced tour guide for 11 years, I like to share my passion for my home country Iceland with you. I am a light-hearted nature lover and I would like to take you on a journey, where we will make memories, explore stunning places, enjoy special moments and hopefully laugh a lot. I have been guiding tours all over Iceland for more than 11 years and love to show people around. When I am not guiding, you can find me chasing the next outdoor adventure - visiting ice caves, hiking up mountains, riding horses, snowboarding down hills or travelling the world. Sometimes I need to take a break though and then I love to meet some older friends for a game of Bridge, to listen to the birds in the yard or to take my guitar and write some songs. My greatest passion are lava tubes, the caves of Iceland. There is a whole new world underneath the ground which is very fascinating to me and I really enjoy searching for great undiscovered caves in lava fields and especially finding them, which doesn't happen every day. On my tours we will most likely see quite a few birds in their natural environment and you can learn more about them. Like most Icelanders I like to tell stories and I will take you on a journey you will always remember. Overview of your Reykjavik tour

The Golden Circle is a classic day tour from Reykjavík on which we will visit Iceland's most popular natural sights: Þingvellir National Park, Geysir Strokkur and Gullfoss Waterfall Instead of just stopping at these gorgeous places, I would like to let you see them through my eyes. Þingvellir is a place of great historical and cultural relevance and we can travel back to the roots of democracy there. In my opinion a real treasure in this area lies in the lava fields we will see. In the past I have spent many days hiking and even horseback riding in this area and value the national park for its beauty.

Our family had such a GREAT time with Ingolfer. His vehicle was comfortable and clean, and he was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and showed us a memorable day. Ingolfur even made a side trip so we could climb up to the rim of a crater. He took us to the Secret Lagoon and got in right along with us, extending our opportunity to talk to him and learn more about this fantastic country. We ended our wonderful tour that lovely day feeling we had traveled and learned from a friend, not just a guide. Although he was also a really great guide. Highly recommend!

Ingo is just a fun person to be around. He drove us to several sites around southern Iceland (The Golden Circle tour) including the Blue Lagoon, and was very flexible in meeting our schedule. He's particularly knowledgeable of the geology and history of Iceland. We highly recommend Ingo.

Your Reykjavik tour itinerary

* We start the day in Reykjavik and drive approximately one hour past the lake Þingvallavatn into Þingvellir National Park which marks the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. The rift valley between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates was the location of the annual parliament in Iceland and is now one of its most popular sights. Here we can take a walk "between the continents" and see the beautiful little waterfall Öxarárfoss. In * Our journey continues eastwards through farm land until we reach the Geysir "Strokkur" which entertains visitors with a fountain of hot water every few minutes. You can walk through the hot spring area and take lots of great pictures of Geysir. In the visitor centre you can buy souvenirs and we can take a coffee or lunch break. * From here we carry on to see the massive waterfall Gullfoss, another location to enjoy Iceland's breathtaking nature until we drive back to Reykjavík maybe stopping at one or two more places on the way.
