Bolafjall Mountain Platform and Dynjandi Waterfall

Discover some of the most spectacular scenery and history of Iceland’s Westfjords on this shore excursion from Ísafjörður. Travel to the dramatic Bolafjall viewing platform for panoramic views over the surrounding mountains, fjords and North Atlantic. Visit Ósvör, a reconstructed traditional fishing station that offers a glimpse into the lives of Icelandic fishermen in centuries past. Continue through the beautiful Westfjords with a stop at Hóltsbryggja, a peaceful white sand beach and pier surrounded by mountains, before reaching magnificent Dynjandi, a roughly 100 meter cascading waterfall and one of the region’s most iconic natural attractions.

Depart from Ísafjörður and travel through the mountains to Bolungarvík. Visit Ósvör, a reconstructed historic fishing station with traditional turf covered buildings, before continuing up Bolafjall Mountain. Walk onto the viewing platform high above the ocean and enjoy incredible views across Ísafjarðardjúp and the surrounding fjords. Continue through the Westfjords to Hóltsbryggja, a scenic pier and white sand beach in Önundarfjörður, with time for photos and a short walk along the shore. The final highlight is Dynjandi waterfall. Enjoy time to explore the series of waterfalls and walk toward the base of the main cascade, which drops approximately 100 meters down the mountainside. The walk to the upper main waterfall takes around 15 minutes. After visiting Dynjandi, return through the fjords and mountains to Ísafjörður.
