Overview of your Reykjavik tour
This tour includes one of the most understated part of Iceland. It is like an outdoor laboratory for volcanic formations right on the doorstep of Reykjavik the capital city of Iceland. It has seen a dozen eruptions from 2021 to 2025 (we're waiting for one more in 2026). I've been giving tours in this area since 1988 and this area amazes me every time I visit winter or summer. Of course we'll visit the best known highlight in the area - the Blue lagoon spa. I know this area like the back of my hand after giving tours there for 37 years. This tour includes time for a visit to the Blue lagoon (entrance fee is not included but I can book it and you can pay locally), Iceland's most popular tourist attraction and an introduction to Iceland's geology through the spectacular lava fields of the Reykjanes peninsula. Please ask if there are more than 4 persons in your group, I have access to vehicles for up to 22 persons.
Your Reykjavik tour itinerary
This route is all about volcanic scenery and hot springs. After being dormant for 815 years, a volcanic episode started on the Reykjanes peninsula 19 March 2021. Since then, and still counting, we've had 12 eruptions in the area. One optional highlight on this route is the famous Blue lagoon spa. I recommend a 2 hour stop there. If you choose to visit I will book the tickets and you can pay for them locally. Then we follow the South coast road to the Reykjanes Peninsula lighthouse, lava fields, and geothermal power station before making a stop at the symbolic Bridge between two continents, i.e. American and Europe/Asia. We can make an optional visit to the Smithsonian Institute Viking exhibition. Íslendingur is the name of the Viking-Age ship replica which sailed from Iceland to Greenland - and from Greenland to Canada - and New York in the US in 2000. The journey was made to commemorate the one thousand year anniversary of Christianity in Iceland.
