I grew up in Munich and its wonderful suburbs and live now for more than 30 years with my husband and our two daughters in the pulsing heart of the city - the Gärtnerplatz. It is a meeting and melting point where you can daily experience the modern spirit of Munich. Even as a child I was always fascinated by history, art and of course by travelling. That's why I studied art history, anthropology and archeology in Munich. As a student I travelled around the word, visiting historical highlights and meeting so many friendly local people. They showed me their countries and allowed me to participate. Thereafter I started working as a tour guide for Studiosus - the biggest study trip company in Europe. I am specialized in the Benelux-States and the Southern States. In the same time I started as a tour guide in Munich to give back some of the wonderful experiences I made on my trips. Munich is a wonderful, adorable and cute city with many hidden places to discover. The Alte Pinakothek is one of the oldest galleries of the world and the home of one of the greatest Collection of Old Masters. I studied art history in Munich and I am specialized on the Flemish primitives and the Golden Age. Our daughters are named after the wives of Peter Paul Rubens. Art was always a mirror of the time - come with me and experience an entertaining time ride through the centuries.
Susanna was great! She took me through the museum and explained the symbolism and underlying meaning of the paintings, which I could never have done on my own. She was aware that I am not familiar with Munich and even escorted me back to my hotel. It was a fine afternoon!
Susanna gave an excellent tour in English of the Old Paintings museum. Her love of the artistry is evident in her passion and detail. At the start, We loved that she set the scene of the 1400s-1600s and the museum layout. This helped us appreciate the works during the tour and after. She provided many little details of interest.
Susanna's encyclopaedic knowledge of virtually every painting in the Alte Pinakothek was astounding, and made our tour with her enjoyable as well as illuminative. Whether a Turner, a Van Gogh, Rembrandt or Tintoretto - she knew them all, and with such precision and detail which could only come from years of extensive study of art history.
Susanna was incredible. We actually did the walking city tour —not sure why it says we did the museum tour. Susanna was knowledgeable and friendly and easy going—perfect combination for a tour guide. We really enjoyed this tour which gave us a great overview of city.
