Bonjour! Welcome to Bordeaux ! My name is Julie, and I was born and raised in the countryside of Bordeaux, surrounded by vineyards. I moved to Paris right after graduation to work as a licensed tour guide for some of the most emblematic French monuments and sites (the Loire Valley castles, Louvre Museum, Normandy, and more!). It was an enriching experience ! When I came back to Bordeaux, I decided to specialize in wine (how could I not), and I'm now a full-time guide, who provides private wine and History tours with my minivan in the Bordeaux region, but also other areas such as the Dordogne, french Basque Country or the Arcachon Bay. I've always worked in tourism and I am a curious person, so I keep learning every day. Thanks to my experiences in various French regions, I will be able to adapt to your interests and customize THE tour you need. I am a very attentive person and I really want you to enjoy your time here. So do not hesitate to ask me for advice! I'm really looking forward to welcoming you to my region so I can learn more about you. My objective is not to give you a lecture, but rather to have a discussion to make it more enjoyable for you (and for me!). A bientôt! The wine-culture of Bordeaux is quite old, and Saint Emilion proves it. Since Late Antiquity, viticulture keeps changing the landscape, sculpting the terrasses on the hills which are now inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List. With 700 châteaux on 5500 hectares located around the charming medieval village, the vineyard of Saint-Emilion offers an important density of wineries, mainly small family estates. The area of the wine appellation shows a large diversity in type of soils, creating wines that can be fruity or mineral, elegant or powerful. On this tour, we will visit 2 wine estates. You will be told about the wine making process at each place, and the visit will end with a tasting of some wines of their production. Let's enjoy the lunch break in the picturesque village of Saint-Emilion, where we can have an extra wine tasting or just some free time for you to walk around.
9H30: departure from Bordeaux, 50 minutes /1h drive to the winery 10H30: visit of a wine estate, you will see the facilities and the aging cellar / tasting of some wines of their production 12H: guided tour of the village of Saint-Emilion and lunch break. Then, free time or wine tasting if you're interested in buying some wines 15H: visit of another wine estate 17H30: back to Bordeaux / end of the tour
