Bonjour from Bordeaux! I can't wait to share my beautiful city with you. My primary goal is for you to enjoy yourself and hopefully fall in love with this magnificent region of France. I will show you the most beautiful monuments and architectural highlights; I can give you the dates and names of architects or I can simply tell you the anecdotes that make the monuments special to us. I will not let you leave Bordeaux without learning about the legendary Eleanor of Aquitaine, the most influential woman of the Middle Age who altered European history for centuries. I have so many stories to tell you and will answer any questions you have about Bordeaux's past or present. If I don't know the answer, I will find it and get back to you! As a food enthusiast, I have made it my mission to discover the best that Bordeaux has to offer and I will share with you all of my favorite restaurants and gourmet shops. Whether you want fine dining or a quiet riverside picnic, I know where to take you. Now a little about me. . . . I am a dual citizen of America and France, born in the US and living in France for 20 years. I met my French husband in the US and after having my second child, I moved us all to France.. It was the best decision of my life and now that my children are older, I spend as much time as possible in cafés sipping espresso or wine. I have learned so much in my time here and I love sharing my knowledge and experiences with curious travelers. Bordeaux is a gorgeous city with so many layers of fascinating history. We are experiencing an actual renaissance at the moment so it is the perfect time for you to visit! I hope you are excited about your upcoming trip to Bordeaux. I would love to be your guide :) Credentials: Bachelor of Science from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Over 200 hours of professional and recreational cooking classes at L'Academie de Cuisine, the Cordon Bleu in Paris, and L'Atelier des Chefs in Bordeaux. **Outside of tourism, I work in animal rescue and train dogs so feel free to bring your canine friends along. France is a pet friendly country and dogs are welcome almost everywhere.

Overview of your Bordeaux tour

Let's visit some of France's most beautiful squares and architectural wonders on permanent display in a modern city filled with medieval and even Gallo Roman structures. During out time together I will take you along the Garonne river to show you a controversial bridge commissioned by Napoleon. I will tell you all about Bordeaux's Nazi occupation as well as a Viking invasion in the 10th century. I will explain to you why Bordeaux is nicknamed the 'Dark Capital' and also 'Sleeping Beauty'. Now on to Europe's largest square with gorgeous fountains, statues and plenty of activity. I will show you the grand Bordeaux theater, two Renaissance towers and a breathtaking cathedral where a historical marriage took place in 1137. And of course no tour would be complete without coffee and a pastry at a sidewalk cafe! I look forward to sharing this beautiful city with you as well as giving you a look into the modern French way of life.

This 3 hour tour is perfect for anyone looking to learn about the history of Bordeaux, as well as to get your bearings around the city of Bordeaux, for anyone visiting the first time. We had a fantastic and insightful time with Stephanie - definitely one of the best guides we’ve used in any city - would highly recommend! Especially helpful for anyone visiting from the U.S. given Stephanie is from the U.S. but speak fluent French.
