Getting on for 40 years experience in region enables me to take you around the vineyards of Bordeaux and open doors for visits that truly go behind the scenes. We taste some amazing wines and meet some amazing people! The people that make the wine have become my friends. Since arriving in Bordeaux in 1989 by 2CV from England, the Bordeaux region, its wines and people have become my passion and my life! Step into my world and really get a feel for this amazing dynamic place. Each itinerary is individually created for you - I know the secrets of the region and cant wait to share them with you. I can offer you a unique insider's authentic view of Bordeaux. It will be a fun, informative experience you will never forget and quite different to the other wine tours of Bordeaux available. I specialise in the SIPs - smaller independent producers where we can meet the winemaker and taste some amazing wines. Bordeaux is big and there is lots of opportunity (if you know where to look just on the wrong side of a famous border....) to find great value high quality authentic wines. I love the Grand Cru Classé too and surprisingly there are many that offer excellent quality and value. The 2014 vintage is underated and drinking beautifully now. (Many chateaux ship now so you can enjoy your memories when you get home too.) Most of my favourite properties are still family-owned, many are biodynamic or organic, most are classified and all produce great wine. (there are 7000 properties in Bordeaux and only around 200 of them belong to the elite group called the Grand Cru Classé). Of course we will see both to see and taste a well-rounded view. My wish is that each of my 'tours' is an authentic, unique and hopefully unforgettable experience during which we have the opportunity to share our interest in wine, have fun and learn along the way. I never stop learning about this fascinating subject! You may find my Bordeaux Wine Blog helpful in planning your trip (with restaurant recommendations and maps and information to orientate yourself) and once you book, you will have access to this too. Visit and taste wines at three grand cru classé châteaux with chance to lunch in between at a local restaurant where we'll rub shoulders with the Bordeaux world of wine! In the Medoc (Left Bank) I'll show you an example of the key terroirs in the famous village appellations of Margaux, St Julien, Pauillac and St Estephe. Impressive grand châteaux are located here in the flattish landscape of this peninsula. As we ascend the gravel stones the soil increases and so there is more and more Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend (a key word here in Bordeaux) and the wines get more fullbodied. My personal favourites include a biodynamic classified Pauillac growth and St Julien with bottles dating back to 1815. There are also smaller properties to visit here in lesser known appellations (such as Listrac, Moulis or the interesting Haut Medoc) on the 'wrong side' of the border of their famous neighbours (at a fraction of the price). This tour give you a wonderful insight into Bordeaux, its wines and its people
Nicolle is absolutely fantastic - we could not have had a better day with her and would do it again in a heartbeat!
Nicolle provided us an incredible experience in the Medoc ~ what a magical day we spent with her. I selected her based on her profile and her experience with wine in addition to the fact that this was the area we wanted to tour. And I am so glad I did because she is excellent. This is an all day experience. We visited three chateaus. At the first two we had tours and tasted. At the third, we had lunch and a tasting. Our last stop was at a very small family producer where we toured the facility and tasted. All the wines we tasted were gorgeous and we ended up shipping home 4 cases. Nicolle is not only a lovely person who is very organized, she has an incredible wealth of knowledge of the region, of the history of the region, and of wines. Bill and I love wine but are mere amateurs. We learned so much from Nicolle and had a truly memorable day. This may cost a bit more than some other offers but I highly recommend her as your tour guide for the Medoc as the day is so much more extensive and provides a personal opportunity to learn and enjoy. A votre sante!!
Perfect
Nicole was fantastic as our guide on their wine tour. She is so knowledgeable about wine and that made all the difference. She did not rush us and we even had the opportunity to see a winery getting their last grapes in to be processed. We would recommend Nicole to everyone, she deserves five stars and more in our book. Thank you Nicole so much for the wonderful opportunity to visit the beautiful wineries with you! All the best, Gary, Peggy, Richard and Luisa
We loved our day with Nicole. We saw the famous chateaus, and had two great tastings. We learned so much and now have a great background with French wines, as she simplifies the sometimes (often) very complicated industry and classifications.
Nicolle was very knowledgeable about the Bordeaux region and we learned so much from her. We were truly blessed to find her as a guide. She was personable, friendly and made sure we had an amazing experience. I would recommend here to anyone looking to enjoy great wine and to make the most out of their Bordeaux experience. Thank you so much Nicolle!!
