Join me to visit the fabulous wine region of Bordeaux and gain a deep understanding of the region's famous appellations from the soils, to the making of wine, the different vintages and the often confusing classification systems. Over ten years of experience in the wine tours business, I am a qualified Wine and Spirit tasting professional and have trained during my internship at Chateau Latour! I generally would advise visiting three châteaux per day of course the well-known impressive classified ones known throughout the world but also smaller family owned and run châteaux. I am a real 'people's person' and my approach as a guide enables me to share my passion and knowledge about wine and the Bordeaux vineyards in a professional yet friendly way, the aim being to make sure my clients leave with an unforgettable experience! I love nature and the Bordeaux area offers a wide range of beautiful spots where I enjoy walking, cycling, swimming in the ocean, even scuba diving! As a serious 'foodie' I will also enjoy helping you discover the best selection of delicious local dishes including some of the 1200 different types of French cheeses (not for the faint hearted!) and advise you on how to best match wine & food! Visit and taste wines at three grand cru classé châteaux with chance to lunch in between at a local restaurant where we'll rub shoulders with the Bordeaux world of wine! In the Medoc (Left Bank) I'll show you an example of the key terroirs in the famous village appellations of Margaux, St Julien, Pauillac and St Estephe. Impressive grand châteaux are located here in the flattish landscape of this peninsula. As we ascend the gravel stones the soil increases and so there is more and more Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend (a key word here in Bordeaux) and the wines get more fullbodied. My personal favourites include a biodynamic classified Pauillac growth and St Julien with bottles dating back to 1815. There are also smaller properties to visit here in lesser known appellations (such as Listrac, Moulis or the interesting Haut Medoc) on the 'wrong side' of the border of their famous neighbours (at a fraction of the price). This tour give you a wonderful insight into Bordeaux, by a local guide!
A great trip. She took us from one city to the next and to the next happily, despite a good deal of traffic. The best aspects of Emmanuelle's tour are: - Deep knowledge of the locale - Deep knowledge of the wine business - A great network of wine professionals to pull from But her genius is in the experience of the contrast between a one man vineyard and the biggest of the big. FANTASTIC!

Emmanuelle was the perfect guide, a wonderful combination of knowledge and passion for wine, humor and wit and perfectly fluent in both English and French! We were picked up at our hotel and on the drive up to the Medoc we were fast friends. Conversation flowed freely and easily. We had in-depth visits at the Chateaux that I had requested with wonderful tastings. Lunch at Lavinal was excellent. As we drove through St Julien and Paulliac, the many wine labels I see on my home wine store came alive seeing them in person. It was a trip that will stay with us forever. I unequivocally recommend Emmanuelle for your next tour into the Left Bank.
