This is my third walking tour of Bordeaux with Stephanie over a span of about 10 years. Each time, Stephanie has shared her knowledge of and love for the city of Bordeaux with enthusiasm and charm. She has a lighthearted approach that makes walking the city a pleasure. Our group of 9 this time were friends who were staying at our home near Creon. All of them came away from the tour with a new appreciation for Bordeaux and a desire to come back. Stephanie’s recounting of the life of Elinor of Aquitaine so enamored my husband after one of our earlier tours that we had to follow Elinor’s trail to Poitier. Stephanie captivated everyone with the history once again on this tour. Her tour is a great way to start a visit to Bordeaux. She knows the best places to shop for everything from super chocolates to high quality handbags you won’t find back home. We stopped in a gallery full of curious and unusual art. All in all, our friends counted the tour as one of the highlights of their visit.

Overview of your Bordeaux tour
Let's visit some of France's most beautiful squares and architectural wonders on permanent display in a modern city filled with medieval and even Gallo Roman structures. During our time together I will take you along the Garonne river to show you a controversial bridge commissioned by Napoleon. I will tell you all about Bordeaux's Nazi occupation as well as a Viking invasion in the 9th century. I will explain to you why Bordeaux is nicknamed the 'Dark Capital' and also 'Sleeping Beauty'. Now on to Europe's largest square with gorgeous fountains, statues and plenty of activity. I will show you the grand Bordeaux theater, two Renaissance towers and a breathtaking cathedral where a historical marriage took place in 1137. And of course no tour would be complete without coffee and a croissant at a sidewalk cafes! I look forward to sharing this beautiful city with you as well as giving you a look into the modern French way of life.
