Bonjour! Welcome to Bordeaux ! My name is Julie, and I was born and raised in the countryside of Bordeaux, surrounded by vineyards. I moved to Paris right after graduation to work as a licensed tour guide for some of the most emblematic French monuments and sites (the Loire Valley castles, Louvre Museum, Normandy, and more!). It was an enriching experience ! When I came back to Bordeaux, I decided to specialize in wine (how could I not), and I'm now a full-time guide, who provides private wine and History tours with my minivan in the Bordeaux region, but also other areas such as the Dordogne, french Basque Country or the Arcachon Bay. I've always worked in tourism and I am a curious person, so I keep learning every day. Thanks to my experiences in various French regions, I will be able to adapt to your interests and customize THE tour you need. I am a very attentive person and I really want you to enjoy your time here. So do not hesitate to ask me for advice! I'm really looking forward to welcoming you to my region so I can learn more about you. My objective is not to give you a lecture, but rather to have a discussion to make it more enjoyable for you (and for me!). A bientôt! Do not trust that name: it’s not really a country on its own, but the territory where the Basque language is spoken. Because this region straddles two countries, France and Spain, it has always had a tumultuous History, being successively under Spanish and French domination. Between the Atlantic Ocean and the Pyrenees mountains, French Basque Country is a gem. It has a strong identity and its own culture. And gastronomy is obviously rich: from pastries to ham, you’ll have a taste of the local food, a nice mix between ocean and mountain influences. Saint-Jean-de-Luz, by the ocean bay, was an important port for privateers, sailors or fishermen. It has charming streets and beautiful buildings remaining from its Golden Age. Bayonne has an important military History and offers different styles of architecture, from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. On our way, we will have a short stop in Biarritz, which offers wonderful 19th century architecture by the ocean coast, being also a famous surfing spot.
