Fluent in English, German, and Greek, I’m a natural storyteller with a deep love for history, art, wine, and culture. With over a decade of experience in guiding, I bring a rich perspective to Bordeaux’s past and present — from Roman Roots, through the Middle Ages, the Wine Business, the French Revolution, and up to Modern Life in Bordeaux. I’ve guided curious travellers through Bordeaux, Saint-Émilion, the Médoc, Sauternes, Poitiers, Lascaux, and Arcachon. Whether you’re drawn to medieval intrigue, ancient civilisations, the intricacies of the Bordeaux wine, or you're just looking for an authentic walk through this city, I’ll tailor the experience to match your interests and your pace. Expect insider tips on the best local spots — and plenty of good stories along the way. Let’s make history come alive — together!

Overview of your Bordeaux tour

Our guided tour is steeped in the history of Eleanor of Aquitaine - we will discover her remarkable life, her reign in France and later in England as well as her sons who became kings themselves. Bordeaux became twice(!) royal thanks to her and the wine trade boomed through the trade between Bordeaux and London. We will also learn about the Bordeaux Claret wine, which the British aristocracy always favoured. Our tour passes by the Porte Cailhau and the Grosse Cloche, the main city bell and emblem of Bordeaux. We will also visit the famous cathedral of Bordeaux, Saint André, at the place Pey Berland, where Eleanor married the French prince Louis VII and the spot where the wine charter was signed by King John in the Middle Ages giving Bordeaux autonomy for their wine trade. I will narrate this fascinating part of English/French history and you will discover the stern Romanesque as well as the spiritual Gothic gate of this magnificent cathedral.

Anna’s medieval tour far exceeded our high expectations! It was a comprehensive, action-packed introduction to the city of Bordeaux from pre-Roman roots to present day. She is articulate, extremely well-prepared with maps, insightful comparisons to current day, weaving in humorous details with dramatic flair. Her details were well-chosen and memorable. She had paid special attention to Eleanor of Aquitaine at our request but delivered so much more, including a contagious love of the city and a desire to learn more from her.

This tour guide really knows her stuff! In addition to patiently answering all of our very detailed questions, she told the most charming stories about some of the artwork we visited and pointed out details I would have missed. Anna was very accommodating. One of our group had an injury, so she altered the tour to include less walking, brought additional materials based on our specific interest Amd to top it all off, she is a delight to talk with! We have been on a number of walking tours including five on this trip to the Bordeaux area, and Anna was by far the most knowledgeable and most interesting. Pro tip for a tour with Anna: message her in advance of your tour to let her know your specific areas of interest. She will research your areas of interest Teresa and tailor the tour to you! Our next trip to Bordeaux, we are booking whatever tour Anna is offering!

Anna is fantastic. Super knowledgable, very friendly, and all around a great guide. She really makes the history of Bordeaux come alive. She tells great stories. She's also very flexible in terms of adding in little stops (ask her about the archaeology in the hardware store.) All in all, absolutely fanastic. Highly recommend!
