I was born in Barcelona,and lived in Valencia Spain for my first years . My dad was a true englishman and mother from Chile, which makes me a eclectic mut ! As a child lived first in Honduras, but by the age of 7 was in the UK for the next six years , first in Islington London and then Hastings, east Sussex (boarding school ), that's where I got a distinct fluent english , which makes me easily understood and sets me apart from most of my piers with heavy south american accents. . Finally Argentinal would be my last stop , finishing secundary school years in a english boarding school , near the city of Cordoba, La Cumbre, saint Paul's school. In 1990 my parents decided to settle in Santiago de Chile , maybe the recovery of democracy helped in this crucial decision. After studying hotel administration in Santiago I became a flight attendant for then Lan Chile , for almost four years. I was then introduced into receptive tourism by a friend who knew well the industry , I knew from getgo, it was going to be my bag. I enjoy showing the diversity of my country , with rich culture, history and traditions, and also appreciate meeting different walks of life. Like wine , I believe in doing things with passion and dedication, including detailed customized tours , restaurant or vineard reservations, , in high season and many other small but crucial details that in the end, make a unforgetable and memorable experience. With more than 25 years in the trade, I feel confident providing quality time, making sure to meet clients needs and avoiding when possible tourist traps. Near Maipo river, landscape suddenly get's lush with extensive almond and pear plantations. Perez cruz, This winery , south from east Maipo riverbank, Huelquen , are aluvial soils , that allow deep roots developing thick silky skins . Vinification edifice has unique facade with carved Oregon laminated pine , it's Perez Cruz winery, under the guidence of reknown winemaker German Lyon , a household name for silky balanced and round tannins velvet musts , outstanding Cab. sauvignon, cab. Franc and Carmenere . Lof, a small boutique vineard , 3 hectares of cabernet and Syrah , 20000 bottles, and now a new release blend of both cab and sryrah, the personal project of German Lyon, using 25000 litre cubic cement vats , that age these healthy mature grapes , achieving a distinct evolution in the wine. Santa Rita, one of Chile's , well-established winery dating back from the 1880's. "Doña Paula" a colonial elegant dinning room with traditional Chilean cuisine.
Chris took us to a couple of family owned wineries - great wine and beautiful scenery! At the 2nd winery our guide took us by golf cart out through the vineyards then to the basement area for a barrel tasting - great tour! Then on to a nice restaurant for lunch.
Christopher was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful and lead to us having a fantastic day. On our drive to the Maipo, Christopher gave us some background not only on Chilean wine, but culture and history as well, which was very interesting. He also gave us advice and pointers on what to do and where to eat in Santiago, especially considering that our following day was a Monday - when most Museums are closed. His food recommendations specifically were very helpful and lead to our best meal of the trip. Both wineries we toured were informative and had lovely wine for tasting. Chris's insight into which wines are standouts at each winery helped us pick a few vintages we didn't have the chance to try home with us. Because my wife and I are always out to learn new things, we did run over at both wineries, and Chris was able to adjust on the fly and reschedule our meal and later tastings.
Chris is an outstanding tour guide with vast knowledge of Santiago and the Maipo Valley wineries. Chris arrived at my hotel on time and drove me to the Maipo Valley, home of world class Cabernet Sauvignon wines Even though the tour was on New Year’s Eve, when most wineries were closed or offering limited tours, he was able to get me private tour at a boutique winery (LOC) and also a tour at of the oldest wineries in the area (Perez Y Cruz). The tours were excellent and the wines were very good. We had an excellent lunch at restaurant Dona Paula restaurant in a very beautiful garden setting.
Christopher was an amazing tour guide in Maipo Valley wine country. Since it was Sunday, our options for winery tastings were limited but Christopher arranged 2 very good tours and tastings - Perez Crus and Santa Rita. We had a lovely lunch at Dona Paula. I purchased several bottles of wine. Christopher arranged to buy bubble wrap holders for the bottles and we boxed them up. He helped me get them shrink wrapped as checked luggage for my flight home. Such an interesting guy! Highly recommend!
Outstanding wine tour of the Maipo valley with Chris. He arranged private tastings at a small organic winery and a medium commercial winery. Different but each fantastic. Tasty lunch at Santa Rita winery. Highly recommend this tour when in Santiago.
Although we did not know New Year's Eve Day was a holiday in the area, with many venues closed, Christopher did and made several calls to secure a great day for us. He could have cancelled our day together; instead, we enjoyed a full day of sightseeing, winery tours and tasting. Christopher is knowledgeable and personable and we got along well.
Once reaching the extraordinary southeast alto maipo microclimate in Huelquen, and crossing extensive almond, pear and apple plantations we reach a wooden gate entrance with neatly alligned chestnut, almond and gum trees that lead you to the main wine facility, Perez Cruz , winery , tour and tasting. Lof , a stunning scenic beauty , a hidden treasure of the beaten path , German's breathtaking landscaped parcela residence and boutique winery. A personalized tour and tasting with a passionate host. (Lof vineard tour and tasting fees included.) Lunch at renowned, Doña Paula restaurant, a colonial setting with tradition at santa Rita winery. Famous for its 100 year old buganville and exotic flora among them persimmon trees, a manicured inner courtyard garden for sure , visit "Museo Andino", which is walking distance from lunch. This was Ricardo Claro's private collection of Inca pottery, textiles and Colombian gold among interesting items. Free entrance for those who visit the winery. Trf Santiago
