I was born, raised and educated in Santiago. Studied and graduated at University of Chile in 1991 as a Former State English Tecaher as second language. Working as a Tour Guide since 1988, I do enjoy touring visitors around Chile, because; this is a great place to visit, with wonderful and unique landscapes, exquisite local meals and a very friendly culture. Santiago de Chile is the country capital city; where the main governmental, financial and cultural activities are taking place. Founded in XVth Century this is a city with a lot of history, very beautiful and cosmopolitan, with a strong european and north american influence, mixing the old classic neighbourhoods of XIXth century with the modern districts and impressive state of art buildings of XXIst Century. Full of beautiful parks, squares and very clean streets, making of this city a very pleasant tourists destination . Thi's a low profile city , which as soon as you visit provides you with many and nice surprises such as its colorful gardesns , parks and clean streets and avenues. -
Juan Carlos stepped in to help out a fellow guide who was no longer able to lead our tour, but Juan Carlos was terrific. We were unsure about the drive from Santiago to Valle Nevado because of the winter road closures and 39+ switchbacks, but Juan Carlos was a great driver. He was very knowledgeable and personable and shared a lot of information with us on the ride up the mountain. We enjoyed our time with him. Tours by Locals has great guides in Santiago.
We were very appreciative of Victor Hugo’s communication and attention to detail. When he became unable to lead our tour he found a replacement who was a wonderful person and great guide and met all of our needs. Victor Hugo continued to follow up with me when we were with his replacement and even followed up after our tour was over to make sure everything worked out well. He went above and beyond and we really appreciated his professionalism. We also thought his replacement, Juan Carlos, was terrific and we are grateful that he stepped in to help. My mother and I visited Santiago, Chile before going a cruise. We organized a half day tour of the city with Victor as our guide. Victor was very friendly, knowledgeable, dependable and experienced. He provided an excellent city tour that provided us a good overview. He took us to visit local markets and areas that were not high tourist areas. He also provided great information of other areas to visit while we are in the city. We appreciated the local flavors of the city, and we absolutely loved Santiago and cannot wait to return. We highly recommend Victor as a guide.
We very much enjoyed our tour of Santiago in a comfortable air-conditioned car. Victor Hugo shares his broad knowledge about his city and country in a pleasant and accessible way. We loved our visit to the amazing fruit and vegetable market and to Santiago's very interesting cemetery, as well as our tours of various neighborhoods. Highly recommended.
