Explore Puerto Montt your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Puerto Montt tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Puerto Montt for every interest, including:

Nature and Wildlife tours: Hike among ancient alerce trees and fern-lined ravines in Alerce Andino National Park, with your guide pointing out chucao calls and quiet waterfall viewpoints. Closer to town, cross by small boat from Angelmó to Isla Tenglo for a coastal walk or paddle with views of Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes.

DayTrip tours: Spend the day around Puerto Varas, with stops at Lake Llanquihue, the roaring Petrohué Rapids in Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, and a chairlift or trail on Osorno’s slopes. Or head to Chiloé Island to see Castro’s palafitos, a UNESCO wooden church in Nercón or Dalcahue, and—when in season—the penguin colony at Puñihuil.

Food and Drink tours: Taste your way through the Angelmó market, sampling salmon ceviche, mussels, and a warm bowl of curanto en olla at a family-run cocinería, then try a spoon of fresh sea urchin if you’re curious. Round it out with a visit to a local microbrewery or a café in Puerto Varas for German-style kuchen, guided by a local who knows the best stalls and kitchens.

Getting around: Downtown is easy to walk, and there are buses and colectivos, but distances to parks, lakes, and islands are long; private transport makes day trips smoother. You can book chauffeured tours or ask your local guide about tours with private transportation.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Puerto Montt inside and out.
