Many of my family members lived outside of Chile, so trips and tours have always been part of my life, and I developed a personal interest about both the world and other countries since I was a child. When I studied journalism in college, I was able to explore a little bit more about our history and the reasons behind our development, those that led Chile to be the way it is, and me the way I am. But these studies also gave me the initiative to travel and explore on my own. I love sharing part of my time visiting places abroad, and and showing the places and activities that travelers want to visit in Chile! In a country with a large selection of landscapes and cultures, most of the trips start or finish in Santiago, a place that can used as a starting point for many day tours or activities too. I can assure you that with my 25 years of experience as a tour guide and a host to foreign travelers in Chile, this truly is a place that you can visit, learn, and enjoy. That is something that still happens to me and I would like to share why! To offer the best security and quality standards, I don´t drive in my tours. So I always include an appropriate vehicle with a driver to meet tour requirements.

If there is a must that we have to see when we are in Santiago, it's the wineries of the Maipo Valley. Just south east from the city, let's dive into the countryside and enjoy a special terroir for vineyards! The Maipo Valley has had grapes since the arrival of Spaniards by mid 16th century, but a first major step was done by the late 19th century, when the landowners brought french grape varieties, plus winemakers & engineers to work. There was however still a long way to go until another century, when the Chilean wine industry had a big jump, by focusing its production in export wines that have been able to cover a wide range of styles & qualities. In the Upper Maipo Valley, we have the best area to plant Cabernet Sauvignon or Carmenere vines, which acquire a unique personality for the special soil and climate conditions. On this tour you'll learn of these vineyards' remarkable qualities that historically developed special varieties of styles through the years (all in one day!).
·Firstly, I'll pick you up from your hotel or agreed starting point in the morning in a modern, fully equipped vehicle. ·We'll then depart from Santiago in Chile's Central Valley & shortly drive south to the area near the Maipo River. Where we have an assorted selection of available vineyards. ·The first vineyard of the day will be Haras de Pirque or Perez Cruz Vineyards, where you'll taste and learn about their premium export red wines. ·From there we'll go to Santa Rita Vineyards, founded in 1880 in an 18th century hacienda. ·On arrival, you'll enjoy their wines of its antique cellars. Time to discover their Museo Andino, where I can explain you its archaeological collection. Also enjoy their Doña Paula Restaurant, located in the old mansion. ·Then, we'll drive back to Santiago... and you can enjoy some time to relax on the way back to the hotel. If time available, we can offer you an additional wine option in the area. Where you could buy some very interesting wines by the glass. (On your own)
