Explore Puerto Williams your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Puerto Williams tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Puerto Williams for every interest, including:

Nature and Wildlife tours: Explore Omora Ethnobotanical Park with a hand lens to see the “miniature forest” of mosses and lichens and learn how the Yaghan relate to these plants. Then take a small boat along the Beagle Channel to watch sea lions on the rocks, imperial cormorants nesting, and, in season, Peale’s dolphins riding the bow.

City highlights tours: Walk the harbourfront to the Micalvi Yacht Club, a grounded ship turned clubhouse, and step inside the Museo Antropológico Martín Gusinde for exhibits on Yaghan culture and early explorers. Visit nearby Villa Ukika to meet craftswomen at the Yaghan community centre, and taste centolla soup or empanadas at a simple local diner your guide knows.

Adventure tours: Hike to Cerro Bandera for sweeping views, or take on sections of the Dientes de Navarino trek over peat bogs and rocky passes, with your guide handling route finding, camping gear, and required registration. On the water, paddle sea kayaks in the Beagle Channel with drysuits, or try light-tackle fishing for trout on the Róbalo River.

Town streets are fully walkable and there’s no public transit. For trailheads and boat launches, your guide can arrange 4x4 private transport or a chauffeured tour, and organise boat transfers when needed.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Puerto Williams inside and out.

Day trip ideas from Puerto Williams

From Puerto Williams, lean into day trips that reach windy ridgelines, tiny coastal settlements, and mossy forests around the Beagle Channel, shaping each outing with your tour to match your pace and weather.

Cerro Bandera: Hike from town through lenga forest to a ridge marked by a Chilean flag, where the Dientes de Navarino peaks and the channel spread out below; strong views, a steady climb, and a clear goal make this a satisfying half day for hikers.

Omora Ethnobotanical Park: Follow short trails into “miniature forests” of lichens and mosses while learning how Indigenous knowledge reads this landscape; birdlife and close-up nature make it a good choice when winds are up or you want an easy walk.

Puerto Toro: Drive the coastal road to the world’s southernmost permanent settlement, passing bays, fishing posts, and hardy lenga stands on the way; it suits curious visitors who like remote places, maritime stories, and simple seafood at the edge of the map.

Beagle Channel navigation: Head out by boat to watch cormorants and sea lions on rocky islets, trace historic routes between Navarino and Tierra del Fuego, and take in cold, clear light that changes by the minute; this works well if wildlife and wide water views top your list for tours down here.

A private tour with a local guide is the best way to really get to know a place. Skip the crowds, follow your interests, and see a side of Puerto Williams most travellers miss.
