My wife and I had the most wonderful private Sound of Music tour with Dietmar, and it ended up being so much more than simply a tour. Dietmar grew up in Salzburg and has lived in this beautiful part of Austria for most of his life. That makes an enormous difference. He certainly knows all of the important Sound of Music locations, but what made our day truly exceptional were the places he took us that the large tour buses simply cannot reach—and other beautiful, out-of-the-way locations that I suspect you would only know about if you had actually grown up here. His knowledge of Salzburg, its history, the surrounding countryside, and the Sound of Music is remarkable. But Dietmar never made the day feel like a rehearsed tour. Because it was just my wife and me, he tailored the experience to us, took his time, and shared stories and places that made us feel as though we were seeing Salzburg through the eyes of someone who truly calls it home. By the end of the day, Dietmar no longer felt like our tour guide. We genuinely felt that we had made a new friend. There are plenty of ways to see the Sound of Music locations around Salzburg, but I cannot imagine a better or more personal way to experience them. If you have the opportunity to spend a day with Dietmar, do it. You will see places most visitors never see, learn things you would never find in a guidebook, and, if your experience is anything like ours, come away feeling that you have a new friend in Salzburg. Dietmar, thank you for giving my wife and me such an unforgettable day. It was truly one of the highlights of our time in Austria.

A wonderful full day tour with Didi, who was kind, friendly and engaging! We saw many sights in the old town and were driven to lovely spots and scenic towns just outside of Salzburg. Not only did Didi make history come alive, he also peppered our session with interesting general knowledge and current day insights. While we visited many places, the pace was perfect and we never felt rushed. Will not hesitate to book him again when I return to Salzburg. You can be sure that your day will be well spent.

My wife and I spent a memorable day with Didi in Salzburg and the surrounding areas during our Sound of Music tour. Our private tour of Salzburg with Didi was fabulous. His knowledge and ability to share it in an interesting way was very enjoyable. Our teenage sons loved the tour and the variety of sites, history and ultimately the road trip to explore the Sound of Music locations.
