Servus in Austria, exploring the nature, taking my guests on tours to places "seen through the eyes of the locals" - in a respectful way - that's my passion. I was born and raised in Salzburg and after high school and my education in tourism & travel business I moved to Lake Wolfgangsee into the heart of the Salzburg Lake District Area in 1990. Together with my family I live in the village of Strobl. I personal love beeing out in the nature, exploring and doing different activities in the seasons all year round (hiking, cycling, climbing, snowshoe-hiking, ski-mountaineering). Hikingtour on Zwoelferhorn Mountain (1. 542 m a. sl. ) located on Lake Wolfgangsee. - appr. 30 min. driving time from your hotel in Salzburg. - great views into the higher Alpine Mountain Range and over the whole Lake District Salzkammergut. - Rest in a typical Mountain hut and later on at the lakeside. - appr. 1.000 m hike, steep ascent - optional: Zwölferhorn cablecar for decend (appr. 30,-- euro p.P) Equipment recommendation: Hiking boots, comfortable clothes, fleece jacket, windbreaker, hat or cap, suncream, back bag (1 for 2 pers may be enough), functional shirt, drinks, and snacks. Due to bad weather conditions - I will offer alternatives.
Our family had an incredible day hiking with Rudi. We have never experienced a location quite as beautiful and picturesque. Rudi was a wonderful guide, sharing stories of the area, pointing out flowers, and helping our boys discover wild strawberries. We loved our climb, the stunning views, a snack at a mountain hut, and a stop for some delicious gelato! Rudi was such a friendly and engaging guide and we truly enjoyed our day with him. Great day of hiking. Rudi made the day very enjoyable. He knew the best routes. And, always gave us options as to where and which way to go. I would recommend, even if you’re not an avid hiker.
An absolutely stunning place…photos don’t do it justice! Rudi is a fantastic guide and, most importantly, a lovely person too. 360-degree views across the lakes and peaks from the top of the mountain. After all that sweaty work, Rudi took us to the beach at St. Gilgen for a refreshing swim in the Wolfgangsee. Highly recommend this tour if you’re up for it. Note: more than 1000 m of vertical hiking if you summit Zwoelferhorn from St. Gilgen! Many ways to modify, so if you’re not feeling like a billy goat, Rudi can get you there another way.
We hiked Wolfgansee with Rudi and it was a terrific experience. He made it a point to stop and show us flowers and trees that are native to the area. He has a wealth of knowledge about the area and is engaging and friendly. The hike is a bit of a workout but the views of the area are spectacular. Book your tour as soon as you can with Rudi.
Our tour will start in Salzburg. I will pick you up at your hotel, from there we drive directly into the countryside outside Salzburg, the Lakes District Area (wonderful landscapes, mountains and lakes). Drivingtime about 30 min. We start our hiking tour with a gently hike along wooden trails, climbing slowly higher over mountain meadows to the top of the Zwoelferhorn Mountain. From the peak we will have a perfect view into the higher mountain range and over the Lake Area. After a nice rest we start our descent with great views, along meadows and wooden areas. About on the half way we could take another rest a typical Austrian mountainhut. Delicious snacks and homemade cakes - lots of surprises. . . After 5 hours (total hiking time) we arrive in St. Gilgen, the colorful village on the Lake Wolfgangsee. Short walk through the center with interesting places, house of birth mother W. A. Mozart, Mozart-Place with monument and maybe some icecream!?! Later we drive back to Salzburg (drivingtime appr. 30 min. )
