Hello ! I am a native of Salzburg and I have been working in the tourist business since 1996. Initially being a tour guide was more a student job besides my studies of business administration, in which I have an MBA degree. After a while I noticed that this is not only a job, it is my real passion. Since then, I have been doing tours in large parts of Europe on coaches, minivans and ships during river cruises. Certainly, I am specialized in the Alpine region, particularly in the Salzburg and Bavarian area. My favorite tours are the lakes district tour to Hallstatt, the Bavarian mountains (Eagle's Nest, salt mines and Lake Königssee), the Ice Caves, Innsbruck and the Grossglockner High Alpine Road. My goal is showing my clients the most beautiful and interesting sights of my area and also places which are off the beaten tracks on private tours in my own Mercedes van. Apart from my mother language German, I am fluent in English and Spanish and can provide a big knowledge of history and geography in a relaxed way. In my free time I love to go mountain hiking, sailing and skiing. Additionally I am very interested in magic art and I am member of the magical society in Salzburg for many years. I have a license for the conveyance of passengers. I have a MBA degree for business administration. I am a professional driver-guide with an own company and minivan. I do not offer walking tours in cities in Austria, I only provide guided tours on my van.

Join in a tour of adventure, visit the largest ice caves of the world and the 11th century fortress of Hohenwerfen. This particular fortress, perched on a hill nearby the little mountain village of Werfen, is one of the most impressive one's in Europe. As an experienced licensed guide I can tell you a lot about the history of the fortress and the area and additionally you have the option to enjoy a real awesome falconry show and to see the fortress from inside on a guided tour done by an own fortress guide. High up in the surrounding mountains the world's largest ice caves are situated. A special cave guide takes you on a journey through the fascinating world of ice and you can listen to many interesting stories about this natural wonder. A truly unforgettable experience! PLEASE NOTE: This tour is only available in the summer season (from May to Oct. ) As there is also some uphill hiking involved a little bit of fitness is required. Furthermore good shoes and warm clothes are recommended for the ice cave.

We visited Salzburg 5 years ago to celebrate our 20th anniversary and were blessed to be assigned to Marcus as our tour guide. We knew if we ever returned that we would definitley want to book with him again. We returned for our 25th anniversary and booked two tours with Marcus this time. This was our second fantastic tour with Marcus. We went off exploring nature and he took us to see amazing waterfalls of Golling, and made sure we arrived in perfect time to see a falconry show at Hohenwerfen Fortress. As if the day could not have gotten better we then went up to the ice caves. Marcus was such an amazing guide, not only did he provide us with answers to all our questions but he even hiked right a long with us ( no simple feat) with (2) 20 minute uphill climbs. Nothing short of amazing.
From the city of Salzburg this tour follows the Salzach river valley southwards past the old salt town Hallein to the romantic village of Werfen, which is surrounded by steep mountains of the Salzburg Alps. Closeby is the funicular station of the fortress of Hohenwerfen. This funicular leads uphill to the fortress, where the falconry show will be presented, followed by a one-hour guided tour through the fortress. The next highlight are the world's largest ice caves high up in the Tennen mountain range. By a scenic drive on a mountain road uphill, a pleasant hike and a breathtaking cable car ride this trip finally arrives at the giant ice caves. After a one-hour excursion through the ice caves by a special guide the route leads the same way back to Werfen and finally to Salzburg.
