I am a licensed tourist guide (Austria Guide), active in and around Salzburg. I offer walking tours that will make you familiar with Salzburg, with its Art, its History, its Music. . . with Mozart, with Baroque Architecture and, last but not least, with the Sound Of Music. I went through two professions - architecture and stage design - before I decided to become a tour guide ten years ago. This explains why Salzburg is so endearing to me: because of its well preserved historic architecture, and because of its musical events such as the world famous Salzburg Festival. Aside from Austrian culture, acquired during the last fourty years, I am also familiar with French culture, due to ten years spent in Paris. And my native interest for Middle-Eastern culture has left some traces as well. I believe this can be the basis for different guided tours, adapted to your diverse interests and curiousity. Salzburg, as I learned to love it, has a wide range of historic references, which will address the young and the mature, the Eastern as well as the Western guests. Salzburg, as I experience it everyday, shows a specific European civilisation where I love to recognize a touch of Central Europe, a strong Italian influence and an exotic Bavarian kinship. I hope to get you interested in some of these aspects, and I believe I can respond to your various interests. I was trained as a tour guide during a three-semester course at the Institute of Economic Development. This is the only official body granting the licence to practise this regulated profession in Austria. Licensed tour guides carry a distinctive badge showing their legal status. Furthermore, I am part of the Salzburg Guide Service, an association of guides trained in Salzburg, which guarantees an extended knowledge of this city and its province. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Distant only 5 kilometers from Salzburg, the Hellbrunn Castle is a pleasant excursion to the hunting grounds of the Prince-Archbishops who ruled Salzburg in the past. Built by italian architects four centuries ago, the castle and its Trick Fountains are a historic monument to the pleasurely way of life some centuries ago. The tour requires a car that should accomodate the number of guests plus one seat for the guide. If you are a driver and decide to hire a car (or a bus), you would enjoy more privacy than on any tourist bus tour. Hiring one or many taxis would also be a convenient solution. You will be able to interact with the guide and ask about historic details and questions that might be puzzling you about Austria, past and present, and about the famous movie with its real-life story.
Driving to Hellbrunn will take about a quarter of an hour. The yellow facade used in the Sound of Music movie as the "von Trapp villa" can be seen from a distance while driving to Hellbrunn. Hellbrunn itself is the location of the now famous "gazebo". But this will also be a trip into History, as this is also the site of a suburban castle from the 17th century, with historic gardens in late Renaissance or early Baroque style. The garden with the "Trick Fountains" is a rare example of its kind. A pleasant alternative could be - weather permitting - to hire bicycles, allowing for alternative routes.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
As I am not a driver, you are expected to hire (and drive) a car, or hire taxis. If you have your own bus, the number of persons can be larger than the usual 6 people indicated (to fit in a large taxi). A pleasant alternative would be hiring bicycles.
