Full day tour to the Concentration Camp Mauthausen
Overview of your Salzburg tour
This tour is a full day tour from Salzburg to the concentration camp of Mauthausen-Gusen. The main subject is Mauthausen, but we drive also along the river Danube and we visit the city of Linz as well. On the way back to Salzburg we drive along the lake Traunsee and have a stop in the memorial camp of Ebensee. This tour can start and end at the harbours of the Danube Cruises such as Passau as well as Linz.

This was a long day, as we knew it would be given where we were going. Didi showed us the quarry and a nearby subcamp. Traffic was a bit of a bear on the return journey and we spent time trying to find a less congested way. The camp, though, is worth the hassle of the trip to get there and back. We found the memorials erected by various countries very moving, as we were again reminded of how horrible war is and of the terror that Hitler imposed.
Your Salzburg tour itinerary
Leaving Salzburg on the highway towards Linz. Driving directly to Mauthausen. There first we visit the quarry and then the actually camp of Mauthausen. We drive then along the river Danube all the way to Linz. Small city tour of Linz. After lunch we drive into the Lake district Salzkammergut to have picture stops in Gmunden and Traunkirchen. Visit of the memorial of Ebensee before driving back to Salzburg.
