Guide #62387
I am passionate about American History, and am excited to share the large, immersive, outdoor classroom of Center City Philadelphia with you. I am a former Professor of Early American History, a docent at Carpenters Hall, a volunteer with the Independence Historic Trust, and a Research Fellow of the First Continental Congress. I have been a volunteer guide at Powel House, Washingtons Crossing, Moland House, and Laurel Hill Cemetary. I believe that the story of our country is built upon the people, the stories, and the struggles of our founders. I thrive on talking about these amazing people, and will be excited to show the specific sites that define our past. I also believe that an awesome tour stays with you forever. I promise not to download dozens of dates and facts that will be forgotten in a few days. My goal is to amaze you with the stories that teach, explain, and instill you with the same pride that I feel every time I walk through this most amazing city. Mark was the perfect choice for our tour of Philadelphia. He is extremely knowledgeable and also personable. He seemed to know every docent in the city which was fun. With a PhD in history and a former professor at U Penn I felt humbled to learn all about the lead up to the writing of the Declaration through the war of 1812 from him in the literal spot that it happened....
Mark was an INCREDIBLE guide through the streets and history of Philadelphia. He was engaging and funny and truly connected with each member of our party, old and young. He had incredible insight to historical facts we all thought we had learned, and really brought the Revolutionary War period to life. Even the strongest of history buffs has something to learn from...
