Experience the heart of Bavaria
"If you have just one day in Bavaria, spend it at Kloster Andechs, " is the advice of many Bavarians to visitors. The "Holy Mountain" offers excellent food and drink along with a fabulous Rococo church, Alpine vistas, and a unique history.
Still operated by Benedictine Monks, we love the Schweinehaxe (pork knuckle) and the rich Doppelbock beer. If you still have room, the dessert window also offers a selection of Bavarian treats like Apfel Strudel, Dampfnudel, and a variety of cakes.
After a few hours at Andechs, you have the option of taking a ride on Lake Starnberg. Large boats ply this 22 square mile lake. On board is a veritable floating beer garden with lots of food and drink available. A myriad of schedules are offered and we will decide that together if you are interested. One highlight, however, is the site where Ludwig II was found dead.
Alternatively, we can head back into Munich and either stop at some other beer gardens or do a short history tour. It's your option!
