Have a former University of St Andrews student show you what St Andrews is all about.
I graduated from the University of St Andrews (just before Prince William arrived) and my family live there, so I feel I really know about the town and I bring my personal experiences of the town to the tour as well as telling you all about it's history, golf, the university and how this little place helped shaped Scotland.
I'll pick you up in Edinburgh, drive you to St Andrews and add in somewhere else to visit in Fife or even near Edinburgh to add to your experience. On this private tour I work in what you want to do to make sure you will get the experience you really want.
We start off with pick up in Edinburgh and we will drive to St Andrews which will take roughly 90 minutes. We will explore key areas of this gorgeous little town so you will find out about it's links to golf, the University, it's history and how it helped shape the world. In St Andrews, in addition to the cultural and historical aspects of the tour, we can arrange lunch, visits to local pubs and coffee shops.
On the way back to Edinburgh we have the option of dropping into local Villages such as Falkland that has the worlds oldest tennis court and was the backdrop to much filming of the Outlander TV show, there is also a really great local organic farm and restaurant and family run tweed/clothing store that has been there since 1888 and supplies local gentry and farmers alike.
This is a tour for you, rather than having a set itinerary I want to make one to suit what you want to do.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: We will meet at your hotel, or where you ship is docked if you are on a cruise.
End location: You will be dropped off at your hotel or cruise ship, unless you wish you be dropped somewhere else such as a restaurant where you have made a reservation.
Duration: 8 hours
The tour will last roughly 8 hours and I always make sure you get back into Edinburgh in plenty of time for any plans you may have.
You will be transported in the latest an air conditioned Mercedes Vito Tourer. This is a 9 seat vehicle (driver plus 8 passengers) and 7 passenger seats comfortably sits people up to 6 ft 4, one front middle seat is good to have one passenger up to 5 ft 6, if this is fine by you I can take 8 people instead of 7 but recommend if everyone is tall that this tour is for a maximum of 7 people.
Your transportation, fuel costs and all guiding fees are covered.
Estimated Local Cash Needed
100 GBP - The local payments will cover your food and drinks, even entry to any historic buildings (St Rules Tower within St Andrews Cathedral or Falkland palace).
Extra money will be required for meals, drinks and entry to any historical buildings or shopping you would like to do.

Will was a great guide and took us to St. Andrews as we requested and highlighted many of the significant parts of this quaint city. We did not request Edinburgh but rather chose to dwell on countryside and of course, the Old Course. He was quite knowledgeable about the university and the reformation as well.
