Stonehenge day trip - (Pick-up from multiple locations)

This tour with James was a highlight of our trip to the UK! Our two teenagers were seeing Stonehenge for the first time and he made it truly memorable for them. Days later, on a road trip in Scotland, we even heard them saying, “If James was here he would tell us all about that!” 😊 He was a prompt and safe driver, very easy to chat with, and even took us to a great little pub for lunch. You cannot go wrong booking with James!

My wife and I toured Stonehenge and other nearby sights with James in the middle of May. He picked us up at our hotel in London. We soon found him knowledgeable and entertaining, and quickly established a rapport, talking and laughing as we drove through the English countryside. At Stonehenge, James discussed the history of the site and the many theories historians have advanced to explain how, over 5,000 years ago, folks were able to move such huge stones from miles away to this site. And how they kept the project alive for the hundreds of years it took to complete it, engaging succeeding generations for all those years. We also shared a delicious lunch at a pub in nearby Salisbury that he recommended—turns out, it was one of the oldest pubs in England. Then we visited the Salisbury Cathedral where an original copy of the Magna Carta is kept. Again, James’ knowledge was important as we walked through the cathedral, especially about how the foundation “floats” on a watery marsh. And, as at Stonehenge, he posed us for some clever pictures. The day ended too soon. We would gladly take another tour with this warm and engaging man, whose love of his job and keen interest in conveying his knowledge about England and its history were so evident. In short, we enjoyed the pleasure of his company as much as the sights he showed us.

James tailored this tour to our interests & took us to Highclere castle & the surrounding area where Downton Abbey was filmed. We had a great time & also went to an awesome restaurant for lunch. If we ever go back to the London area we would definitely see if James is available.

We can't say enough good things about our time with James. First of all, he was right on time and communicated with us in the days before our tour. His car was clean, comfortable and he provided water for the trip to Stonehenge. James was so knowledgeable about the area and took us to other places like Woodhenge so we could have a better understanding of the history and geography of the area. He also gave us great suggestions for taking pictures. We appreciated his humor & expertise. It was a GREAT tour!
