We'll explore the secret bunker where decisions that shaped history were made. You'll witness the place where Churchill led War Cabinet meetings, spoke to President Roosevelt using groundbreaking technology & strategized the path to victory. You'll feel the tension in the Map Room, where every movement of ships and troops was meticulously tracked. As we resurface, we'll imagine Parliament Square ringed with barbed wire and see the scars of the Blitz on buildings to this day. We'll also explore Whitehall to see how Londoners braved the Blitz and the Royal Family's role in bolstering national spirit, as we finally envision the jubilant throngs when peace finally returned. This tour was time well spent in London. Melissa is a teacher at heart and is quite skilled at balancing information with backstories that help you relate and retain. She was friendly and enthusiastic. Outside the war room, she led us to several key sites nearby that helped shape the past and remain important today. We highly recommend this tour and this guide!!
We were so fortunate to get Melissa as our tour guide for the Churchill war rooms and museum! Turned out she was a high school history teacher for 15 years and she had such excellent information to share that when we walked around other people would kind of follow us so that they could hear her. Doing a private tour with just our three family members and Melissa allowed us to really control the pace, which we really appreciated. We spent two hours in the war rooms and museum and then Melissa took us on a tour of the historical buildings as they related to Churchill for the remaining hour. So excellent! Highly recommend!

After emerging from the bunker, we'll walk through Westminster, discovering key sites connected to Britain's wartime experience. At Westminster Abbey and Parliament Square, we'll discuss life during the Blitz and London's resilience under bombardment. Along Whitehall, we'll see 10 Downing Street, the Cenotaph, and the Women of World War II Memorial. We'll also visit the only Nazi grave in London and the wartime headquarters of General Charles de Gaulle. Continuing through St. James's, we'll learn about the contributions of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, before finishing at Buckingham Palace, where Londoners celebrated victory on VE Day and VJ Day. *Itinerary may vary depending on time and walking pace.
