Hi, my name is Nigel. I am a former History teacher and have been a tour guide in the UK for over 10 years. I believe tour guiding is about sharing knowledge, experiences and stories and having lots of fun along the way! I studied British and American History and Politics at university and have a passion for the history and culture of both countries. I have been very fortunate to have travelled to over 80 countries and have met some remarkable people and some amazing tour guides. I recently worked with the one and only Rick Steves, advising him on his London Travelogue and the next edition of his London Guide Book. I really enjoy creating opportunities for you to explore the amazing places in London and the South of England meeting and speaking with locals and gaining an insight into their way of life. London has been my home for the past 30 years and I have a real passion for this incredible global city. There is so much to experience on foot and on the excellent public transport system. If you are nervous about using the Tube (the subway) or the buses, fear not, I will help you navigate your way to the myriad of wonderful places that London has to offer. If the capital city is your focus, we can tour around the historic sights linked to the British Royal Family in Westminster, explore the ancient City of London with its Roman origins, hear stories of its colourful history and enjoy its spectacular architecture. You can experience the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, the Houses Of Parliament, Buckingham and Kensington Palaces, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, St Paul's Cathedral, The Southbank, the West End and the East End. My aim is to design a unique, customised tour for you and your fellow travellers. We will tour at a pace to suit you and I am always happy to be flexible and make adjustments to ensure you have a wonderful time on vacation. Outside the capital city, England has so many great places to visit. It's a wonderful country to be a guide as there is so much history and life on the streets of every town and village. There are also a wide range of stunning places just a short journey from Central London. I run single Day Tours to Royal Windsor and Hampton Court using professional drivers and if preferred, local trains. If you have an interest in World War II, the Churchill War Rooms, the RAC museum at Hendon, the Battle of Britain Bunker in Uxbridge and Fighter Command HQ are also well worth a visit and within easy reach of central London. For those wanting to experience London's range of gastronomic delights, I offer walking tours to some of London's Historic Pubs and Borough Market with its huge range of international street food. I am really looking forward to meeting you and sharing the many rich experiences that this country can offer. Hope we can make this happen soon! Here are my formal qualifications:- - Bachelor of Arts Degree Joint Honours in History and American Studies (Keele University) - Certificate in Education (Teaching Degree, Keele University) : History and Physical Education I have Public Liability Insurance. There are a small number of historic sites where I am not licensed to guide however there are official "live" guides or audio guides available at the this sites.

See and hear stories from the heart of London's famous West End. We explore amazing places in theatre land and visit gems in Covent Garden and Piccadilly. We gain an insight into the history and culture that has made London one of the great entertainment centres of the world. We visit famous hotels, restaurants with royal patronage, a Victorian market where the pearly Kings and Queens originated as well as a beautiful church which has close links to many of the great actors and performers who made their names in the West End. In Soho and Leicester Square we visit one of the world's largest and most vibrant Chinatown communities and see where some of the London's film premier's take place. We take coffee/tea and sustenance at one of the many local cafes and maybe some locals who give this area so much character and personality. Piccadilly has so much to offer, the Ritz Hotel, Fortnum and Masons, royal greengrocers and The Royal Academy. So much to see do and explore in this mecca of entertainment.
Meet up at your accomodation or at Covent Garden Tube Station. Covent Garden: Stroll around the market area and hear stories of one of London's original piazzas. Visit the Actor's Church and London's oldest restaurant and explore the history of London's first luxury hotel. Leicester Square: We move through the Covent Garden area to reach Chinatown and then Leicester Square. Hear stories of this famous square where the stars of world cinema and theatre are immortalised and remembered. Piccadilly Circus: Arriving in Piccadilly, we explore a range of roads which each have a story to tell and there are lots of options to explore further, visiting one of London's amazing galleries or taking and English Cream Tea or winding our way through the streets of St. James's with the quirky and exclusive shopping that this area has to offer. Each tour is tailored and customised according to the each travellers interests and passions. There is a plethora of options for refreshments and dining during and post tour.
