Over 28 years ago, I took on what is widely regarded as one of the toughest examinations in the world: The Knowledge of London. Set by the Public Carriage Office, this demanding qualification requires mastery of the area within a six-mile radius of Charing Cross — some 113 square miles — covering over 25,000 streets and 50,000 landmarks and places of interest. I completed The Knowledge in the summer of 1999 and proudly became a licensed London black cab driver. Driving a black cab didn’t just mean navigating London — it meant living it. One of my greatest pleasures has always been sharing the city’s history with passengers, listening to their stories, and bringing London to life through conversation and storytelling. It was this natural connection that led me seamlessly into professional guiding.
