Christopher Wren's City churches: Half-day Walking Tour

After the Great Fire of London in 1666, Wren was given the task of rebuilding 50 of the City of London churches which were consumed in the flames. He made each tower and spire different and the London skyline was dominated by these spires for over 200 years. On this tour we will visit some of Wren's most beautiful City churches and hear about their rich history and stunning architecture, from Wren's original designs to post-war renovations. We will go inside some of the churches and see their historic treasures, and look at others from the outside. We will also see some stunning views of the outside of St Paul's Cathedral. In addition, we will visit Temple Bar, also designed by Wren, and hear about its gruesome past. We can stop for a cup of coffee in the magnificent setting of St Mary Aldermary, and finish with a drink at a pub that's said to be built by Wren for his workers.
