Hi, my name is Nigel. I am a former History teacher and have been a tour guide in the UK for over 10 years. I believe tour guiding is about sharing knowledge, experiences and stories and having lots of fun along the way! I studied British and American History and Politics at university and have a passion for the history and culture of both countries. I have been very fortunate to have travelled to over 80 countries and have met some remarkable people and some amazing tour guides. I recently worked with the one and only Rick Steves, advising him on his London Travelogue and the next edition of his London Guide Book. I really enjoy creating opportunities to explore the amazing places in London and the South of England and meeting and speaking with locals and gaining an insight into their way of life. London has been my home for the past 30 years and I have a real passion for this incredible global city. There is so much to experience on foot and by using the excellent public transport system. If you are nervous about using the Tube (the subway) or the buses, fear not, I will help you navigate your way to the myriad of wonderful places that London has to offer. If the capital city is your focus, we can tour around the historic sights linked to the British Royal Family in Westminster, explore the ancient City of London with its Roman origins, hear stories of its colourful history and enjoy its spectacular architecture. You can experience the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, the Houses Of Parliament, Buckingham and Kensington Palaces, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, St Paul's Cathedral, The Southbank, the West End and the East End. My aim is to design a unique, customised tour for you and your fellow travellers. We will tour at a pace to suit you and I am always happy to customise tours and make adjustments to ensure you have a wonderful time on vacation. Outside the capital city, England has so many great places to visit. It's a wonderful country to be a guide as there is so much history and life on the streets of every town and village. There are also a wide range of stunning places just a short journey from Central London. I run single Day Tours to Royal Windsor and Hampton Court using professional drivers or, if preferred, local trains. If you have an interest in World War II, the Churchill War Rooms, the RAC museum at Hendon, the Battle of Britain Bunker in Uxbridge and Fighter Command HQ are also well worth a visit and within easy reach of central London. For those wanting to experience London's range of gastronomic delights, I offer walking tours to some of London's Historic Pubs and Borough Market with its huge range of international street food. I am really looking forward to meeting you and sharing the many rich experiences that this country can offer. Hope we can make this happen soon! Here are my formal qualifications:- - Bachelor of Arts Degree Joint Honours in History and American Studies (Keele University) - Certificate in Education (Teaching Degree, Keele University) : History and Physical Education I have Public Liability Insurance. There are a small number of historic sites where I am not licensed to guide however there are official "live" guides or audio guides available at the this sites.
