Scotland may be famous for its whisky, but Glasgow is making a name for itself as the home of some fantastic beer. On this tour, we'll explore the history of Glasgow through some of its most interesting spots and stop along the way to enjoy a taste of what the local breweries have to offer. We'll start at Glasgow Cathedral and Necropolis, where we'll discuss Glasgow's contentious religious past and present. From there, we'll walk down to the Drygate Brewery to sample some of their local beers and enjoy lunch. After a restful lunch stop, we will take part in the Tennents Brewery tour. Tennents is an infamous staple of local pubs - not a beer to be missed! From there, we'll walk down Glasgow's medieval High Street towards Glasgow Green. There, we can explore the People's Palace Museum before having our final drink at West Brewery. This tour is customizable, so please get in touch to discuss how we can make it work best for your trip. I'd be happy to cater for any needs or particular interests you have!
This walking tour takes around 7 hours. This includes plenty of time for lunch and at each local brewery. We'll never need to walk for more than 10 minutes at any one time. Usually, the day looks like this: · 9. 30 - 10am: Meet and walk to Glasgow Cathedral · 10am: Explore Glasgow Cathedral and Necropolis · Walk to Drygate Brewery for lunch and first half-pint · 1pm: Tennents Brewery tour · 2. 30pm: Explore Glasgow Green, the People's Palace Museum and other nearby points of interest such as Doulton Foutain and the Templeton Carpet Factory · 4. 30pm our final half-pint at West Brewery The hours stated here are just a reference point, it doesn't mean they're the only hours in which this tour could be carried out. The tour can also be made longer with additional stops. This would include more historical sites, a stop at a local pub, and dinner recommendations for local restaurants. I'd be happy to find a plan that works best for you!
