Glasgow and I have a lot in common - just like the city, I'm forever inspired by the people I meet and I don't take myself too seriously! I may not have been born in Glasgow, but after 10 years here it certainly feels like home. I graduated from Glasgow University with an MA in History and English Language. I love history because it is everywhere - in our landscapes, our architecture, our culture. To understand history is to understand ourselves! Scotland is a beautiful country, but with so much to explore, Glasgow can sometimes be overlooked. It's my job to show you exactly why it shouldn't be! Whether you're looking for a long wander through the city or lots of stops to our local museums, breweries, and eateries, I'd love to show you around. Looking after our planet is something that's really important to me. If you're interested, I'd love to make our time together as sustainable as it can be - without missing out on any of the fun, of course! I am not a licensed guide and cannot guide you once inside historical buildings (e.g. Glasgow Cathedral have their own guides). I cannot offer pick-up/drop off via car, but am happy to recommend public transport or arrange a taxi service.

Overview of your Glasgow tour

Scotland may be famous for its whisky, but Glasgow is making a name for itself as the home of some fantastic beer. On this tour, we'll explore the history of Glasgow through some of its most interesting spots and stop along the way to enjoy a taste of what the local breweries have to offer. We'll start at Glasgow Cathedral and Necropolis, where we'll discuss Glasgow's religious past and present. From there, we'll walk down to the Drygate Brewery to sample some of their local beers. We'll then head through the Barrowlands to Glasgow Green, stopping at West Brewery for another local (and German-inspired) beer. Through the Green, we'll walk along the River Clyde and along Buchanan Street before having a final half-pint at a local public house in the centre of the city. This tour is customizable, so please get in touch to discuss how we can make it work best for your trip. An optional addition is the Tennents Brewery tour - this will add a few hours to the tour, so please get in touch to discuss timings!

Your Glasgow tour itinerary

This walking tour takes around 4 hours. We'll never need to walk for more than around 10 minutes at a time. Usually, the day looks like this: 11am: Meet and walk to Glasgow Cathedral and Necropolis 12pm: Walk to Drygate Brewery for our first half-pint (and lunch, if you'd like) 1. 30pm: Explore Glasgow Green and stop at West Brewery 2.30pm: walk along the River Clyde and along Buchanan Street 3pm: Have our final half-pint at a local pub in the heart of the city. The hours stated here are just a reference point, we can adapt it to suit your schedule! The tour can also be made longer with additional stops. This would include more historical sites, a stop at additional local pubs, and dinner recommendations for local restaurants. I'd be happy to find a plan that works best for you!
