Glasgow was European City of Culture in 1990. Since then, the city has prided itself on being Scotland's Cultural Capital. On this tour we will have a look around Glasgow's most popular museums. Starting with Glasgow Cathedral, we'll walk around in awe at this majestic 12th Century Cathedral, learning the origins of Glasgow in its oldest building. Crossing the street from the Cathedral, visit the Provand's Lordship, Glasgow's oldest house, dating from 1471, where we learn about Medieval Glasgow. Next up, head west to The Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. What is not to see in this amazing museum? From dinosaurs, to Egyptian mummies, amazing art from Charles Rennie MacKintosh to Salvidor Dali, and plenty of Glasgow stories in between. Its easy to see why this museum was once voted Scotland's top attraction! We finish our day off at my personal favourite, The Riverside Museum, Glasgow's museum of transport. Cars, trams, buses and boats, with great displays and recreations of old Glasgow's streets.
the meeting point for this tour is Glasgow Cathedral. From there the itinerary is as follows -Glasgow Cathedral - The Provand's Lordship - Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum - The Riverside Museum As with all ToursByLocals tours, this tour is customizable. Glasgow has many other museums that can easily be substituted for any on the itinerary. All museums on the itinerary are free to visit, as with most of Glasgow's museums. If you would like to swap in one of the few museums in Glasgow with an entry fee, this will be an additional cost. Please contact me using the orange 'message guide' button to chat with me about this.

This is a walking tour. The majority of the tour takes place inside museums, with short walks between each. Travel from the city centre museums to the west end museums will be by Glasgow's Subway. Please wear comfortable footwear, and dress for the unpredictable Glasgow weather.
Castle Street, Scotland, G4 0QZ United Kingdom
The Cathedral is in the Cathedral Precinct, on Castle St. In the precinct, in front of the Cathedral, is a statue of David Livingstone. I will meet you here to begin the tour.
