Overview of your Porto tour

Upon arrival to Santiago Compostela, you will be immediately struck by the sense of history in this old city, with its main plaza, narrow winding streets, ancient buildings & the grand Cathedral, one of the largest in Europe, displaying its impressive Romanesque facade, the silver crypt containing the ashes of St. James, the dramatic barrel-vaulted ceiling, the magnificent organ, appreciating the church's sheer size! You will feel the anticipation in the air of this famous pilgrimage site! While the church is the star attraction of Santiago de Compostela, the town is full of other architectural gems. The Old Quarter was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985 and includes the historic setting of Palacio de Rajoy and the deluxe hotel, Parador dos Reis Catolicos, one of the oldest hotels in the world having served visitors as far back as 1499 when it offered lodging to pilgrims who made their way to the city. En route, we will stop in either Valenca or Combarro to enjoy other great sites!

Excellent experience from booking, responding to questions ahead of tour and flexibility to adjust to our interests and schedule. Six friends (+luggage) shared this experience to be transported from Santiago Compostela back to Porto (to catch our international flight the next day) after completing Camino Portuguese. We enjoyed touring Compostela beyond the square, and visited towns of Ponte do Lima and Barcelos. Great way relax with hotel to hotel service. Miguel was a friendly, knowledgeable guide that allowed us to just relax and enjoy our last day in Portugal and Spain.

Miguel was amazing. Not only did he manage to get the 2 people in my group that wanted to go to Mass squeezed into the cathedral but he was able to make the time fly by while they were in church with secular tour and great tapas lunch resuming historical tour after lunch. Miguel was knowledgeable and entertaining without overwhelming us with talking. I would definitely do another tour with him and recommend him highly.

We stopped in Valenca, then Santiago and finally a detour to Guimaraes. The entire day was great. All areas were very historical and great visits. We had a great tapas meal in Santiago that our guide helped us order so we could enjoy the variety of dishes in this region. We did some great shopping in Santiago and Guimaraes. Miguel really knows the area well so we were able to do a lot of things in one day. He is an excellent guide, flexible, knowledgable, foodie, and pays excellent attention to details

Your Porto tour itinerary

Depart to Santiago de Compostela (from Porto) - guests can attend mass, then visit the city and sites, then enjoy a traditional Spanish lunch (tapas or fresh seafood, not included in price. ) Continue to the fishing village of Combarro, Spain or to the charming walled city of Valenca, Portugal to get a taste of northern Portugal and Spain. Tour concludes upon return to Porto. If this is a transfer, we will visit Valenca or Combarro first before arriving to Santiago Compostela. Guests will be dropped off at their hotel after the tour. The tour can be customised according to your preferences, please inquire
